What a fantastic experience!

We ordered:

BURGER—ELLA SAUCE, AMERICAN CHEESE, PICKLE, SHRETTUCE, GRILLED ONIONS, TOASTED BRIOCHE BUN

PATTY MELT—ELLA SAUCE, SMOKED ONION DIP, SWISS CHEESE. AMERICAN CHEESE. GRILLED ONIONS, TEXAS TOAST

SPICY CHICKEN SANDO—BUTTERMILK FRIED TENDERLOIN, HABANERO HONEY MUSTARD, PICKLE SHRETTUCE, TOASTED BRIOCHE BUN

The Flats offers a simple menu BIG on flavor. I’m already thinking about my next visit. I ordered the Spicy Chicken Sando—nice big battered chicken breast seasoned just right. I may have them cut back on the habanero honey mustard next time. It was an excellent sandwich! Rogers ordered their single Burger—I was lucky enough to get a few bites. Yum! Remember that their burgers are smashed burger style—crispy and thin edges. I can see myself ordering that as a triple fat boy special. Daniel (Danny) did not share his patty melt—stingy! It looked fabulous. I could do that as a double or triple too. I love their fries—excellent thick steak fries that are crunchy outside and fluffy on the inside. Perfection!

Notable observations:

While we were dining, they brought out an order of their BTS BREAD to another table—that’s a must-try for the next visit. They also offer a meatless portobello burger.

What a fun atmosphere! The Flats offers lots of indoor and open-air outdoor seating. We sat outside in the courtyard under umbrellas—what a perfect evening for that.

Give them a try—they are located downtown. — eating dinner with Stephen Rogers and Daniel Bernard...

The food was good, but the service could be much much better. Me and my boyfriend came in for the first time after so many people recommended to us. There was a good amount of people dining in and my order was Hot Hot, which is a popular order, so I was expecting to wait. My boyfriend got his order after 10-15 mins and they've already said goodbye to us. I told them I was still waiting for my order and they said okay. Probably 10-ish mins went by and I finally cracked to ask them how long it'd take for my food. They dismissed it and said the kitchen was wrapping it up. I said okay and continued to wait. 2-ish min later, one of the guys came out and said they lost my tickets and the kitchen would start working on it now. Mistakes happens, that was okay. However, the fact that they didn't say sorry and checked in on us made me really disappointed. They didn't address the issue anymore to me, and I got my order 10 mins later. Again, the food is good, but please improve...

Great food but little training on serving alcohol. I just turned 30 and waiting on my replacement license. I presented the expired license and a state letter for my temporary license linking the two for purposes such as this. They did not know how to interpret it and denied me service. So, I went to Old Tyme Grocery right down the road. Since they were able to read a letter, I am now enjoying a beer and a Poboy.

Edit: Understand the owners response and appreciate it. However, the state issued letter makes my license valid with a 2024 expiration date. So, according to the letter it is a valid, current license with my picture on it. As the state laws require. I did not see in the response from the state saying the letter does not make my license valid. Regardless I have the renewed license now, so that's good. I'd go back here for tasty Poboys.
