Okay, so here is my honest review of the place. When you first walk in the visual, it is really nice. But when you are seated the music is extremely too loud!!! So everyone in the restaurant is screaming at each other throughout the restaurant, including the waiters. So it's just not a comfortable situation with extremely loud music and all the screaming (I mean excessively loud)!!! Next, the service, the waitress I had, was nice but had horrible service. I am not sure if she was distracted or what (it probably was the excessively loud music). But anyway, water, chips, and salsa were brought to the table immediately. Then the waitress came and took our drink orders. She brought my husband and my daughter’s drink but did not bring what I asked for, which was an Arnold palmer (with unsweetened tea because they didn't have sweet tea). So eventually she came back to our table to take our order (still no arnold palmer), I didn't say anything, I just ordered my food. (By this time, I am over the loud music and the screaming throughout the restaurant, and the waitress completely forgetting my drink...I just wanted to try the food and just go). I ordered the Chile Relleno and asked for salsa verde (they didn't have the salsa verde) never in my life have i gone to a Mexican restaurant that did not have salsa verde (i love salsa verde, that was personal). Instead, they bought me something like salsa verde (not even close). However, I digress; I told the waitress I never got my drink (to her surprise). So first the food comes out, then she finally brings a glass with just lemonade no ice, so I look at the glass, which was half filled and asked what was that, she forgot to add the unsweet tea so she takes the glass back and fills it with tea and brings it back still... with no ice. I didn't complain I drunk the hot arnold palmer (I guess you have to ask for ice too) and started eating my food (cause by now this has turned into a very unpleasant situation for me personally). The Chile Relleno was not good, the plate was over loaded with beans and hard rice, the meat was hidden under the mound of beans and rice and the red sauce, (which tasted like it came out of a can), when I finally found the meat I maybe had 5 good pieces of steak and the rest was fat. So I really did not enjoy that dish. So, I was asked about my experience, and I was honest with the waitress. I told her that my experience was not going well at all. The service was not good and my dish was not good either, so she went to get the manager. This smug face man came to my table, (I guess when he came to my table I wasn't the typical customer he is used to smiling with, my profession makes me a very good observer, when he saw me his whole demeanor changed- like annoyed). I told him about the late hot unsweetened Arnold palmer and the 5 pieces of steak and fat under the mound of dry hard rice, his response to me was it's just the 3rd day since opening, okay thanks for letting me know that. So, I asked for the check, cause I really was not interested in talking to a manager anyway because i was already resolved to write this review, but I guess when a customer is not satisfied, it's protocol... Whatever, my husband paid and still left the waitress a tip (it definitely would have been a much nicer tip if the service was better). So here are my thoughts, turn down the music, train your waitresses, put ice in the non-alcoholic drinks, get real salsa verde, and put more meat on your Chile Relleno. I am pretty sure that the hype at this place will die down just like all the other new food joints that have opened up in Lafayette lately. I will not be returning anytime soon... thanks for the night out, but no thanks... I will continue to go where they have real salsa verde and...

The menu looked great and the food sounded like it would be tasty. We were told there was a wait due to several large parties but we could sit at the bar or a high top, which we did. Our waitress came and took our drink orders and brought us some chips and salsa. The chips were decent, the salsa was cold, very chunky and while it wasn't bad it could have been any store bought chunky salsa and I wouldn't have known the difference, it was nothing special. We ordered plain queso and it too was good but nothing special, so far nothing has been seasoned very well or had any spice to it. We ordered a taco salad and the steak and shrimp fajitas plus a top shelf frozen margarita. The dishes looked beautiful, but once again we're pretty much unseasoned. The onions and peppers in the fajitas were literally just plain veggies without even the taste of salt and pepper. The steak slices were thick and while only slightly seasoned were okay, the shrimp were huge and butterflied but again, basically unseasoned, which is weird for a Mexican restaurant and fajitas. The taco salad was also decent but again, not seasoned and nothing special. I got rice and tortilla soup with my fajitas, both were good but also, extremely under seasoned. The margarita had a good flavor but for $12 I expected a little more alcohol in it. We ate most of our food but didn't take any leftovers to go. The food was mediocre at best but the atmosphere was pretty good. For the price we paid ($91 before tip) I seriously doubt we'll be back for dinner, maybe to have drinks or something but with so many Mexican restaurants in and around Lafayette there are FAR better...
Read moreFirst off, the restaurant looks nice. I love the idea of an enclosed patio section...just wish we would have been seated there but I didn't ask for it so I am not going to fault them for that. It was fairly busy but it did take our waitress a solid ten minutes to get to us to ask for drinks (which I never got mine refilled).
Now, as for the food. I can't really speak for my wife's grilled chicken sandwich but she said it was bland enough that it did not upset her stomach so that is good?
Me? I got the Chicken Enchilada/Taco lunch special thing.
This enchilada was basically a Chicken Roll up that was "covered" in a sour cream sauce. The word covered is in quotes because I believe that there was JUST enough sauce to feed the tortilla as it somehow had no sauce on it, yet was soggy.
As for the taco? Well, it was unseasoned cubed chicken on a hardshell taco with cold shredded cheese on top. No veggies, nothing. Taco bell literally puts more effort into their tacos and the meat is generally hot enough to at least melt the cheese there whereas my chicken barely had actual temperature to it.
The refried beans had a wonderful burnt taste to them but I guess the rice was pretty good and the chips and salsa were at least good enough.
I have -never- left a mexican restaurant hungry. We ate there about two hours ago and I feel as if I could grab some Cane's right now. This place -might- have some great margaritas, but as for the food, it is an atrocity and should be avoided at all costs...which are high. I spent $40 before tip on this lackluster lunch and lackluster is me being nice considering it was actually abysmal. The uncleaned grills in Girard park are superior...
