I love this place. In short, really good value for really good food. I first ordered on a Friday night, on which I couldn't get a hold of them on the phone so I stopped by. It was pretty busy which resulted in a 20min wait, but that wasn't too bad. I ordered some tacos - chicken, carnitas, pastor, and barbacoa. The plate of tacos was nice because it came with some additional fixins like fried onions and jalapenos. At $2.50 each, I was a big fan of the tacos. The chicken and carnitas were a bit dry. The pastor was well seasoned but a bit sweet for my taste. I LOVED the barbacoa though. In total it ended up being $13 for 5 tacos, which itself was pretty filling between my girlfriend and I. I'll definitely be back for some of the other meals they offer. Then on Sunday morning, I stopped by for a couple of breakfast burritos. We got a ham and a chicken one. They are HUGE. I believe they come with egg, potatoes, cheese, and meat. I couldn't really spot the potatoes, but they might have been mixed in well with the egg. Either way, there was a solid amount of meat in both of them and the tacos are huge for ONLY $5. They didn't have a whole lot of flavor without the salsas, so definitely get some of those (the chicken was better on this front because it was more seasoned than the ham). Overall this place gets 5 stars because the food and service is great, and the price is unmatched.
Update: Got another breakfast burrito. This time the pierna (shredded pork). I wasn't sure if I'd like it with the marinade, but it made it a lot better than the previous breakfast burritos. I noted how most of the flavor on those came from the salsa, but this time the pierna was plenty flavorful in and of itself. Also ordered the cajeta (caramel) churro. It was also good. Not a huge fan of the way it was filled with caramel (rather than a dip), but good nonetheless. I'd probably go for...
Read moreBest place by far in Boulder County to get authentic Mexican food. We are from Chicago and have never heard of a smothered burrito ever until we moved here and thankfully the burritos at Ayaya aren't wet covered in sauce but they are big and filled with meat of your choice and loaded with all the extras like refried beans, mexican rice, cheese, sour cream, lettuce, tomato, avocado, Cilantro, onion and Jalapeño. And the breakfast burritos are amazing! Bigger than your usual breakfast burritos and stuffed with lots of meat along with potatoes and eggs. Tortas are excellent Street tacos...amazing! All the meats are excellent from the steak to the chicken to carnitas. And they have so much more like pastor. Tamales are good...they go a little heavy on the masa but they go heavy on the meat filling too. They're big tamales. The pepper and cheese tamales are good. Best horchata. I've just never have ordered anything from here and not loved it. They always make our order right and can't beat the prices. And they have a hot sauce bar with a variety of delicious sauces to try. So thankful we have Ayaya so close to home and we order from them 1 to 2 times a week and will be forever customers. - Jason and Joanie...
Read morethis is the birthplace of the worst burrito I've ever consumed.
I've had their breakfast burritos about 4 times now, and have only once completed eating one. I'm not a picky person. When I take a bite into a vessel of greying, bland eggs (they're never even seasoned) granule mush chorizo of the lowest quality, with the tiniest vein of cheese running through and the whole thing has a funky aftertaste like I pulled it out of a plastic bottle, I consider pulling trig just to get this waste out of my body. That was my first experience with the restaurant, but I must admit I'm never in charge of what's ordered and they have also improved considerably since that first nightmare. Nonetheless, I promised to myself then that this story could not just be locked up and forgotten about. It has stained my memory. I didn't know where the burrito came from until now, and I seriously cannot believe it is this highly rated. You have not lived until you've tried the breakfast burrito place that rhymes with pollos hermanos in Louisville, they undoubtedly rail the tacos ay ay ay burritos...
