2/10/24 UPDATE: No phone. No to-go orders. Here right now. Called for 20min. Sat here for another 30. Finally they said they don't do to-go anymore. Lost a major customer today. Wonder what new restaurant will be here? Hopefully something with breakfast burritos and open past 3pm.
Pleasantly surprising
I was looking for a breakfast burrito after 11am on a Saturday. I had no idea the challenge I had signed up for. I didn't know this place existed and after standing in a 20 minute line up the street at Santiagos, I was not a happy customer. I was surprised to find a good sized parking lot in Old Town Lafayette. I was able to park right out front. When I walked in I was greeted by a very friendly employee. This is a sit down restaurant with tons of seating and no bar or counter up front. I asked if I could place a To-Go order and he said he'd have a waiter with me shortly. There are 2 small benches near the front door that could sit 3 people should anyone need to wait. I sat and looked over the menu. I was surprised that such a fun little breakfast spot existed near me that I hadn't heard of. I will include menu photos. But there is a wide array of breakfast choices. They close at 2pm so the breakfast menu is extensive and without a cutoff.
I ordered 3 breakfast burritos. It took 20 minutes from the time I entered the restaurant to the time I got back to my car with my food in hand. At first I thought this was a long wait for some breakfast burritos. But when I got home and opened the boxes, I was shocked. These burritos are enormous. They did not fit on my dinner plates at home. Big. One burrito could likely feed 2 people. I only finished half. My Son and husband somehow managed one each. These burritos are ah-mazing. Every ingredient had been given special attention and would have been delicious alone. And everything was temperature hot and fresh. The flour tortilla might be the best tortilla I've had. The thick chunks of potatoes carried their own flavorful touch and were perfectly cooked. There was the perfect amount of freshly cooked meat inside. The scrambled eggs came in fluffy, big chunks. These come smothered. I didn't see any options to alter the burrito and now I see why. It was the perfect marriage of breakfast burrito ingredients. Despite the lack of heat options, all 3 of us were happy. It has a bit of a spicy kick so my husband who says he had green chili in his bottle as a baby was happy. I'm a heat weenie and I still enjoyed it despite the little kick. And the most important thing that I rank on any burrito is distribution because nobody wants to eat their burritos one ingredient per bite. These are beautifully mixed to ensure each bite has a little of everything. I know, I'm gushing. It's a breakfast burrito worth bragging about.
First impressions were "Wow" and "are they open tomorrow?". Looks like we'll be back...
Read moreI just noticed thisbrestaurant today i assumed it was a new place however i was deiving by amd headed to have my fsvorite green chile place which unfortunately was closed perhaps renovations im not sure.
Anyhow there was letter stating Señor Gomez was open and decidwd to drive a little back to check it out.
Uponnentering it was a bit co fusing as wasnt sure if we sat or waited to e seated i assumed the place was. Ew and still ironing out those details. After several minutes someone finally showed up but since it appeared to be a full gouse on that side i was sat onnopppsite side in different area which i dont mind at all.
What i did mind is seemed i was comletley forgotten about i was not beough any watter or utensils until after 12+ minutes by which time i had already stood up heading out.
The menu seems very reasonably lriced and after viewing the amount of reviews it doesnt seem its such a new place but im not sure. Just wish would gotten a chance to their food but their service was a complete flop for me.
Their dishes seems to lean more on the breaksfast brunch side im assuming thats how the prices are priced as such.
Anyways im rarely in Lafayette maybe on another occasion I can have a...
Read moreUpdate: went with our family and the whole experience was terrible. The hostesses were hard to find and then after being told we would be sat in 10-15 minutes, they continued to seat people and fill up all the tables even though they told us they were waiting for tables to put together to seat our party. When we finally got sat (an hour later), we got to wait another 15 minutes for our RUDE server. He didn't even try to be pleasant with us. After placing our order, we waited another 45 minutes to get PART of our order, and never got our whole order. The food came out and half of our meals were cold. Seriously dissapointed! In the past I had rated the food pretty good and the service mediocre, but this time nothing came close to meeting reasonable expectations.
Really good food for the price. The Mexican hamburger is my favorite. The service has been SLOW the last few times we've gone here. With only one other table occupied, we had a server continually walk right past us for over 10 minutes. Eventually, another server came out of the kitchen and helped us. We would have appreciated being acknowledged sooner. Overall, good bang...
