This food truck is located in the parking lot of Home Depot, in Lafayette. I drove up and parked, and upon approaching the truck, I was greeted to a VERY loud humming from the truck' propane- powered generator. Some music would have been nice, to not only add a distraction from this very loud noise, but to add some ambiance to the atmosphere... That being said, I was quickly greeted by a friendly gentleman, and I proceeded to look at my options. Once I made my decision, I I was asked what type of meat I would like on my burrito. It was very hard to hear what he was saying over the hum of the generator, but he made a nice suggestion, and explained it fairly well. I went to pay, and despite "Cash Only" being written all over the truck, I attempted to pay w/ a card...🤦♂️ He then directed me to an ATM at the Family Express located near the spot the food truck was parked in. I then ran over there, and upon my return, was informed that my meal was already being prepared. I paid for my meal, left a tip, and was given a restaurant pager, to notify my when my food was ready, which was very convenient, as it was quite cold, and I could sit in my nearby car, while my meal was prepared. It wasn't long before my pager went off, and I grabbed my meal, which was given to me in a tied off plastic bag w/ a Styrofoam box, a couple sauces, a napkin, and some plastic utensils in it. I then left the parking lot, and headed home to enjoy my meal. 3- Stars, because the truck was so loud, I could barely hear the staff, they only took cash, there was no outside seating, and the portions were not as great as similar establishments in the area...
Read moreWent to the Tortas Food Truck for the first time to get lunch. For those of you who haven't seen it, it's in the parking lot of Home Depot on the west side. Sometimes it's on the Home Depot side of the parking lot, sometimes it's closer to O'Riley Autocrats. Regardless, it's hard to miss as it's a converted yellow school bus.
Service was great and I love their method for ordering. With food trucks, most of them take a name or give you a number. Tortas gives you a wireless puck that will buzz when your order is ready. This makes it easy to order and then wait in your car so you are not just in the elements, hot or cold. Love this about them.
No on to the food. I got the 3 Tacos dinner. This is 3 meats with rice and beans. Everything was amazing! The tacos were flavorful and tasted like the street tacos I got all over the place in California. The rice and beans were hot and seasoned well. My wife got the Torta with Carnitas dinner and was able to share a bite and that was amazing as well! For both dinners, the portions were great! No skimping here. Each dinner was $12.50 and well worth it. Will...
Read moreBest bang for your taco dollar. I live in the Rio Grande valley of Texas and this is authentic Mexican food. The $2.50 taco has at least twice the meat of your normal fast food snd super tasty. The Tortas are also great value. Try mixing the meats like chicken and chorizo together or al pastor pork with chorizo. Their chorizo is not too greasy and just spicy enough. OMG almost forgot the Torta Cubana - this is their biggest best sandwich. If you are not into the rice and beans, just order ala carte, you get the same thing, not a smaller portion from...
