Zorbas — Restaurant in Lafayette

UPDATE: TODAY IS MY LAST TIME I WILL GO HERE ! I gave in and tried again. didnt order anything to be prepared (hummus and chicken). asked when called at 10:08 how long to wait since busy work day, was told 15-20 min. one lady ahead when arrived getting many orders. So i pay and expect they will just hand me mine. " yours is almost done", I wait a couple minutes and see the hummus by the register and ask if that is mine,the girl said, yes so i kindly and RESPECTFULLY asked where is my chicken, dont they just cut it off the spit? She asked the skinny dark haired lady , who's face showed disgust at the question, so the girl told her she asked because i was asking her. to protect that girl and explain myself i moved over to the lady and said 'im sorry, i was just asking why the chicken isnt ready cause i thought it only needs to be cut' she rudely with a rude face said "its needs to be cooked". I replied, oh well im asking cause i see it's cooked and when i called i specifically asked how long so i would not be away from work long cause a busy day and i was told 15-20 mins and it's now 30. She was still rude faced then the man told me coming right up, he apologized at the counter that they had a big order. Well when i called 8 mins after opening and was told 15-20 they obv didnt have that order yet or did and wasnt able to fill it fast enough to have mine done. I mean come on! i ordered hummus and chicken. both can be throsn in boxes in a matter or 2 mins or less. I have worked in ME food before ! Even if not, it's pretty obvious. One thing I had to wait longer than told, but the main issue here is the RUDE lady Lady, I did NOT raise my voice or ask disrespectfully about my food. YOU just lost your business a customer. Doesnt seem they read these as my last one wasnt replied to, so I am writing this for the patrons. When i returned to work and told my boss why i was later than i said I would be, she said she stopped going due to the always having to wait too long. AGAIN, I AM DONE WITH THIS PLACE. I prefer Zeus anyways but sometimes where you are you have to do elsewhere. I will save my cravings for evenings or weekends. HORRIBLE SERVICE ! My first time get lunch here as I'm new to working in the are. I picked up lunch today 2/2/24 at approx 10:45, young girl by door moving a chair. I said "hi!". I got no reply and a very sullen look on her face. I go straight to the counter where there is a lady to the far left, who also had no welcome for me, so i turned to see if the girl is coming to assist me, she is taking her time moving her things, never said " ill be w./ you" or anything. Came to the counter, still sullen " can i help you". I said i had a call in order for "name' A man appears from the back and nicely says good morning to me as another lady walks in and the sullen girl Says good morning to her. I assuming because the man was now there in front. My order comes fairly quick since i called it in. Now the girl just calls out my order and hands to me, still no smile, not a " thank you" or" have a good day". No other words no smile. No name tag. So i just grabbed my food and left. I cant find the receipt to see if her name is on it. I'm a very nice person and even if i'm having a bad day, i still smile and am polite to others. I do expect the same when i visit a business establishment that i am about to pay money to. I imagine the owner would like to be aware which is why I'm writing this. I was about to speak to the man til another customer came in. The food- I ordered zorba Fries with chicken and it was very good. The fries were nice and crisp, the sauce was great and the flavors were great but I never go back to places i receive bad service. It just ruins it for me. also- i tried this place years ago when they were new and had the same issue, however i just blew it off because i know when restaurants are new they have lots of kinks to work out, so that did in a way make me hesitant to try them today but...

So.. I never leave a review on anything, but my experience at this place is just something to talk about. I placed an order to pick up tonight & though this was maybe my fifth time having zorbas, chance always happened that someone else was buying me dinner so I never actually knew the prices. I assumed the price would be similar to the plates at Zeus so I also assumed that I could afford the treat tonight, I was wrong. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I had to unfortunately tell the cashier that I couldnt afford my meal because I didn't have enough money on me. As I was trying to leave one of the owners chased me out, made sure I left with the food, and made sure that I didnt feel guilty in the situation at all. The food is ALWAYS amazing, but even more amazing is the experience, and the people who run this place! You can always expect to leave satisfied in your stomach and in your heart when supporting...

While the restaurant is small I wouldn't let it fool you as it appears to have quite a bit of personality. It was very clean and inviting, and the staff was very friendly. The food is visible from the counter so you know what you are getting (which seems typical of Greek/Mediterranean businesses; not a complaint), and the flavor of the menu items that I ordered were very rich and of good quality. They have some interesting menu items that I haven't seen before (The Greek fries and burger), and much to my surprise they were an interesting take on a rather common item. I've been to a few Greek restaurants, and out of all of them this is probably one of the better ones.
