Staying here was the worst part about my trip to Lafayette, Louisiana. I was incredibly disappointed with this hotel. I think that it grossly misrepresents Hilton standards. In a nutshell, my stay here was very uncomfortable and I couldn’t wait until it was time for check-out. When I first booked the room, I selected a room with a River front view. Imagine my surprise when I opened my blinds to a look over the bayou. Don’t understand why you would advertise a ‘River front view’, terribly misleading. I have a long list of issues with this place, here we go: 1. The building was constructed in 1983– rooms have popcorn ceilings, high likelihood of asbestos fibers. 2. There is mildew everywhere. 3. Dirty. There’s hair and signs of previous stays everywhere. You just don’t feel like you can touch or use anything without using sanitizer. I wanted my own sleeping bag. I had to purchase flip flops to wear specifically when in the room. 4. Housekeeping doesn’t even clean the room, they just reload your towels and stuff your blanket under the mattress… the trash wasn’t emptied, nothing was wiped down, and yes, the hairs from previous guests were still there. 5. The bed sheets. They have holes. And the down comforters that they have… if you can even call them that, are covered by single sheets on either side, not even a duvet. So it falls apart. Incredibly uncomfortable. 6. The key cards… they don’t work. Sure they might sometimes, but only if you’re good with playing Russian roulette several times a day. Had to get my cards replaced several times. 7. It’s very dated. the cord to the iron in my room looks like it was strangled to death in a past life. 8. I’m still waiting to discover the ‘comfort sleep’ feature in my room. It was incredibly uncomfortable. The blankets fall apart, the pillows are akin to plastic bags filled with crumpled up receipts. 9. Exiting the lot in the morning onto Pinhook road is an adrenaline rush, incredibly difficult access onto the main road. 10. The fitness room… just no. 11. Wifi… what wifi? The signal was so week it wouldn’t even pick up in my room. When I told people I was staying here, they laughed and asked why I chose the worst hotel in the area to stay at. I’m not sure why anyone gave this place a high rating, it’s quite deceiving for future guests when deciding to book here. If anyone tells me they’ll be in Lafayette, the first thing I’ll tell them is not to stay here. The interesting thing is that I haven’t had one bad interpersonal experience. It’s the hotel itself and the way it’s kept. It’s just bad. Bad. Bad. My advice is to not base booking this place on the current review average. It’s definitely worse and there are many better hotels in the area (and with much better price points). Hilton, you really need to step this up. Very dissatisfied customer.

This hotel is pretty great! It has a huge lobby, so it doesn’t ever feel crowded. It has plenty of free parking. Every staff member I dealt with is friendly, and seems to know how to be attentive to the guests with just the right frequency. Some things I really like about this hotel are the quality of the food from the SoLa restaurant. I had the Ribeye, asparagus, and mashed potatoes and that plate was cooked perfectly. On a different night, I had The House Burger and sweet potato fries, and those were cooked perfectly as well. Oh, and the hamburger patty on that burger was THICK! Yes!! One morning, I just came down and asked for a cup of coffee, and the greeter was happy to go in the back and get me a fresh cup. Super terrific staff! There are a bunch of conference rooms, so if your organization needs plenty of event space, they have it. The pool area was still closed and locked, so I couldn’t use the pool (March 3). I did use the fitness center 3 times. It is a bit on the small side, so you may have to wait for a treadmill. There are two of them. However, the fitness center was clean so that’s good. The Internet connection is doggedly slow on busy nights. I even have the Premium Internet because I am Diamond, but it was still too slow on Wednesday and Thursday night. The Manager should probably look into upping the bandwidth of the hotel with the local Internet provider. The bed mattress was not the most comfortable, so it may need to be changed (Room 512). Also, the very far downhill side of your parking lot has a plugged drain. You may want one of your staff go down and clean it out, so proper drainage can happen. I am sure the rain puddle down there gets ankle deep. Really, not many complaints here at this Doubletree. The cookies are warm and fresh! Keep whatever magic you have going on in the kitchen. I stay at many Hilton’s each year, and few have a kitchen that produces the quality of food that yours does. I also saw one of your staff cleaning up the parking lot and making his rounds to keep it looking good. This is something that a lot of hotels do not perform anymore, and it makes me sad when they don’t. This hotel has pride, and that always keeps me coming back. Thanks for the stay, and I will see you again when I come back in a few months.

We used the Hilton Honors app to check in and get our e-keys. This was a seamless process. We booked the King River View Corner Room on the 11th floor. Upon arriving in the room, the room smelled musty, the windows were dirty with oily fingerprints, the room was very dated with old furniture and fixtures. We asked for an upgrade. The front desk staff was very nice and accommodating and gave us cookies. We upgraded to the King Suite on the 15th floor with the in-room spa tub and walk in glass shower. The room was clean but still smelled musty. The furniture was old and cabinet doors didn't stay closed. Every sink faucet and the spa tub faucet had knob plugs missing. There was a hole in the wall next to the bedroom thermostat. For the price of the room, this definitely did not meet our expectations for a supposed 4-star Hilton Hotel. The spa tub worked well and was relaxing. The bed was comfortable and the sheets were clean. The shower was clean and roomy. The shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, and bars of soap did not smell nice. Again, not 4-star quality. There is no room service for breakfast. The all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet was $14 per person. The food was cold and was nothing special. There were dry biscuits, overcooked dry scrambled eggs, cold home fries, oatmeal, grits, bacon, sausage, fruit, toast, cereal, and juice. This is the heart of Cajun country in Lafayette. The food should be spectacular! The coffee was the worst bitter swill I've ever tasted in South Louisiana. The staff were nice but not very attentive in the restaurant. Definitely do not recommend eating breakfast here. Service elevator was broken, staff said for a week, so housekeeping using main elevators causing it to take up to 10 minutes to wait for an elevator.

My family and I have visited this property frequently throughout the years. Due to this, many of the staff greet us on a first-name basis. Our experience when checking in is always professional and greeted with a smile and a cookie. As a diamond level member, we have been offered several times, room upgrades and even by request been granted room upgrades. My experience at the bar has also been great with the bartenders delivering exceptional drinks and service, even when there’s a packed house. With all of the good I have listed, I think there are some things that could defiantly be improved. The property as a whole is in need of a major update. Although we haven’t had any major issues with cleanliness, I can see that attention to detail is not a priority. If those details like ( rusted lamps and fixtures, peeling wall paper, dust on vents, dust on bed headboards, ect.) were addressed the overall aesthetics would be less of a problem. The pool area is in need of attention as well… having an attendant checking in hourly to make sure there are clean towels, and that the area is clean would go a long way. Some music would be nice as well and maybe an outside bar. The last thing we noticed is the food. Breakfast is terribly lacking, basic at best for the price. This property is in the heart of Acadiana, and no one would know that with the buffet options. Adding a shrimp sauce on side of the grits, an omelet bar, waffel’s and praline chicken tenders would level up this breakfast buffet experience. Overall we do enjoy this property and hope to see it improve. I do hope that some of the reviews and suggestions listed here do not fall on deaf ears but are addressed. Also I do love the fact that the owner is responding to everyone of...
