My rating is an actual 3.75 to 3.85 Mazen's pulls up as a fine dining establishment. While the food is of good quality, where Mazen's falls short are the little (but important) things. The decor is plain and uninspiring. White walls with very little decor, white table cloths with very little creativity in the place settings. The menu is decent. Hailed as an establishment with a French and Mediterranean influence, I would have liked to see more of a French selection. The waiter was unfamiliar with ingredients in the appetizer and entrée selections. An absolute must for patrons that have food allergies. We ordered the lamb lollipops and Rockefeller Oysters. The lamb lollipops were over cooked but had a great flavoring. You should never serve lamb well done. What a shame! We had to send the oysters back due to them containing bread crumbs, of which the waiter was unaware. We ordered the Ribeye and the Seafood Biscayne. The Ribeye was cooked to order and had a good flavoring. Nothing earth shattering, but decent. The Biscayne was also very average. Bland but not horrible. Sides were Creamed Spinach and Potatoes AuGratin. The creamed Spinach was absolutely fantastic! Perfect creamy consistency! Fresh and beaming with flavor accompanied by a mild spice. Wonderful! I had to send the Potatoes back, as they were so overdone my fork could not penetrate the top layer. The plating of all dishes was exceptionally poor and lacked any real effort. Unfortunate. For dessert, we ordered Banana Foster- which is really the Cadillac of desserts. This was Unfortunately very lazy and plain. I ordered a ceasar salad, 12oz ribeye with a red wine reduction, and roasted garlic parmesan brussels sprout. The salad first, it is described as being made with homemade ceasar dressing. I received a huge bowl of warm romaine , store bought parmesan, and either Kraft or Paul Newman dressing, def not home made. I’m fine with store bought but to advertise/charge for premium food etc.. and serve something that came out of plastic jug is unacceptable. The brussels, oh the brussels. These tasted of and felt like frozen brussels warmed up real quick. Definitely not roasted, and literally had zero taste. I tasted no garlic , and the powdered Kraft parmesan lightly sprinkled was def for looks and no taste. The steak itself was good, the cut was nice, and it was cooked correctly. This steak normally comes with a three wine reduction and hollandaise. I know what you’re thinking and had them scratch the heavy hollandaise from the steak.
