Captain D's — Restaurant in Lake City

The restaurant is very clean and the tables are comfortable but the decor is a bit dated and the interior feels like you stepped back to the 80's. The food took a bit to get out and it was decent for the money but nothing to make you wanna come back unless you have a strong desire for deep fried shrimp and fish. The hush puppies were surprisingly moist and well done. Usually they are dry and hard. The shrimps are cooked to completion but the near carboard texture of the breading takes away from the taste. The shrimp has been in a freezer for a while which causes the meat to get tough after you cook it. The fish was much better but one side was a bit dark. About 20 seconds less in the fryer and it would have been perfect. The drinks are a bit warm out of the fountain so use the pound of ice they put in the cup for you, you'll need it. They stayed pretty consistent but no heavy lunch mob to overwhelm the one counter person they had operating the entire front. Parking is free and plentiful so no need to fret about finding a spot. The bathrooms are clean just as the rest of the restaurant appears. The staff is doing a good job keeping things clean and pretty but the food is getting smaller and freshness has left the building. You know I used to love captain ds but anymore you have to basically ask for every single thing. I mean if your getting fish duh yes I want tartar dont say it's in the bag and when I leave the parking lot I find out nothing no sauces no nothing except boxes. Very disappointed. And the service want friendly tonight.

I need to go ahead and write this review. Today is Sunday and a man by the name of John called me from CAPTAIN D'S directly, and he solved the problem, was very very sympathetic to how it felt to want your meal done correctly. I would like to give John an extra special thank you again. Today you don't see many businesses admitting their mistake although he had absolutely nothing to do with it John couldn't have been more empathic to a situation like this. Captain D's in Lake City. This place is one of my favorite places to eat. They have a good selection of seafood and a price to match. The employees are always courteous and inviting. They keep the place clean and condiments full. If you need anything just let them know and the will get it to you in a timely manner. I always say I'm going to get something different but I don't. I might get something that is a special appetizer that they are running but usually I stick with the fish and shrimp with hush puppies and oh my word you have got to get an order of crunches. Those things are like liquid gold. I could probably eat just those and be extremely happy. It is a place that for me is hard for me to order because everything in there is really good. Now if you get the fish you need to make sure that you try it with a malt vinegar. Why it is so good when you let it soak into the fish. If I'm doing a good job hit that like icon.
