Hammer's Pub and Grub — Restaurant in Lake City

Went last year for Valentine’s dinner with my wife and we both thought it was good this year sadly it was a terrible experience first on their Facebook and on their specials menu the dinner special says 12oz porterhouse but the waitress said it was a 10oz I’d be surprised if it was even 10 how thinly it was sliced anyhow the dinner comes with a appetizer my wife has celiac‘s and can’t have gluten so we opted for jalapeño nail guns from what the menu read it was jalapeños stuffed with bacon bits sour cream and wrapped in bacon but what came out was not wrapped in bacon but wrapped in wonton wrappers so they were not gluten free and apparently that’s how they are made so the menu is wrong and all the other appetizers are deep fried in something so that eliminates a gluten free option no big deal just wish we would of know this before ordering it next out came our entrées we both ordered our steak rare but being very thin and over cooked we got well done they did replace them so that’s good but really for a price tag of 85 it’s sad it can’t be thicker and the cook know what’s going on, my broccoli smelled like it was boiled in the same water as the shrimp and tasted like it (yes the shrimp tasted boiled and rubbery) so I got a second side of mashed potatoes they were okay just very small serving of them which being potatoes you’d think they wouldn’t skimp on. Last was my drink I ordered a whiskey sour about the only bourbon they had was Jim beam what came out was a old fashioned had the cherries orange looked to be what it was but not what I ordered they did fix it was the whole dinner this year felt like stumbling down an alley. What I’d like to say is when are these businesses gonna realize that they are there for the customer the customer isn’t there for them this is starting to be a trend in the year 2025 now this place hammers pub and grub they bought it from the people that owned it as the food factory which they just wanted out of the business since their kids weren’t interested obviously it’s a tough business to be in and now they’ve even got more competition but it could’ve been the number one spot in Lake City but oh no they have to hire bulldog waitresses and waiters and bartenders people that don’t know anything about Customer Service and would prefer to say I don’t like you instead of treating you with respect and unfortunately they’ve got one person that will run the whole thing and runs around like a chicken with her head cut off and treats people rude as hell and the customers that stay give her crap all the time that she’s there because she’s rude as hell she’s not happy she don’t even like herself and people who have gone here know who I’m talking about the short brunette with the big mouth and not the owners wife At least she knows how to treat a person right they used to have really great bartenders waitresses they probably run them all off stay away unless you want to be treated like crap. Every once in a while I’ll go there because I like the atmosphere and I like the sports on the TV and I say to myself before I walk in I guess I’ll let myself get treated like crap today Just hoping that something would change like new employees or a new attitude which I don’t see that happening well there you go welcome to the hammers...

THIS RESTAURANT IS HORRIBLE AND KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT CUSTOMER SERVICE. Our families having been vacationing and have owned homes / cottages in Lake City / Cadillac for 40 years. We have been supporting the local businesses for 4 decades. THIS WAS THE WORST RESTAURANT EXPERIENCE IN MY LIFE …and would gladly give it a 0 and that’s even to generous. We waited for 90 min to get food..which is ridiculous… and it was horrible tasting food. The 2 fish meals looking like road kill…completely burnt in unchanged oil. 3 of the meals were a simple BLT …not only took forever and even forgot to bring one of the orders. How hard is it to cook BLT’s. The Mgr came over …acknowledging the horrible service and after meeting with him to the side to COMP ALL of our meals ….HE REFUSED …and only comped 1 dish. The mgr came out of the restaurant on a bill issue …and we were angry (understandably so) and the Mgr got VERY ABUSIVE rather than defusing the situation. What a shame to treat long term Lake City...
