Ok So I want to preface this post I choose to get the all you can eat with Ribs and My Wife got the half rack, as I reached out to Mike this week about catering an event for the company I work for I wanted to be able to taste many things and Well let’s get this party Started.(Just a heads up I am definitely very picky about Que)
First go round of meats. Pork Ribs, Brisket and Jalapeno Sausage.
Pork Ribs- Beautiful color, nice bark on the outside, excellent pull on the bite literally fell off the bone! The Flavors, the rub which I am sure is a tightly guarded secret is spot on for brining out the flavor in these Ribs! The slight hint of smoke, the spices mellow yet very well chosen burst across your tongue in complete and udder taste if joy!
The Jalapeño Sausage is not the same stuff you get from the chains at all, this sausage is a true Texas Jalapeño sausage with a kick, the meat is again kissed by the smoke Gods, and bursting with flavor. Juicy, cut to the perfect bite size, use a little of the House BBQ Sauce on it and WHAM your tastebuds erupt into a frenzy!
The Brisket, (saw another review comparing it to well known chains, definitely not at all the truth) this Brisket like the Pork Ribs, kissed with the right amount of smoke, and the rub made an amazing bark. The pull on the brisket was just right, and the brisket was juicy and full of flavor. Definitely not something they just started doing this morning that is perfected art to get brisket to taste, look and smell this daggone good .
Second round of meats,
Went with the Pulled Pork, Regular( nothing at all regular) sausage and the Hotlink. Due the portions normally served I did have to ask the staff to reduce my portion as there was no way I was going to be able to eat an entire second plate of this, Barbecue Heavens food.
Hotlinks- not my goto food so I am going to be gentle it was kissed by smoke and. Lives up to its name Hot Links with a Kick!
The “Regular” sausage- BAM this is a masterpiece in my book juicy, flavorful and my tongue will be dancing until the next time..
The Pulled Pork- not many Who cook barbecue truly master multiple meats. But hold on Mike and His team have hit the ball out of the park here, Both Beef and Pork.. this Pulled pork is so damn good, the flavors hit your tongue and just melts in your mouth so packed with flavor. I added some of the house Spicy BBQ Sauce good Lord Have mercy on my soul, I know now where I can go to grab a quick sandwich or a plate of the good stuff!
Sides well these are not just normal Sides. Garlic Cheddar Mashed Taters-10 out of 10! Mac and Cheese (is not from a Box!) Green Beans- Wow as a kid a could not stand these things if they would have had these I would have ate them for sure.
Banana Pudding- Yes it is a side here- if you do not get some of this Homemade Nanner Pudding you are missing out just call me I will come get your portion of it! Real Nanners, and Nilla Wafers.
Let’s talk about the Staff a little since we raved on about the food, all of them here today were so kind, polite, helpful, and you can tell that is more than just a job, these young folks Love what they do and it shows. They all were very happy to be there and so willing to help accommodate and request. Kudos To Mike for creating an environment where the people who work for you enjoy it so much that they are that amazing to your customers!
If you have not been here don’t hesitate the food is very reasonably priced, and the portions...
Read moreThis was my first time at this facility. The photos online convinced me. It's seemed like a good amount of food for a fair price. Super easy to get to, but was empty when I arrived. They said it was a slow day (people probable still eating left overs from the 4th).
First, the menu photos online are outdated, the meals are at least 2/3 dollars more, so check your wallet. I still didn't think it was bad for BBQ.
They have a Veteran discount!
I ordered 2-meats (brisket and pork ribs). You get two sides, so I selected the potatoe salad and baked beans.
I always check my food before I leave and I was disappointed as soon as I opened the container. The photos online show 4 or more ribs, but I only had two (you know I asked, what's the standard, and they claimed they only do two). I didn't bother to show the online photos, I don't okay with my food. Pictures speak louder than words, and kind of show the facts.
The baked beans didn't look like much, but they actually tasted pretty good. The potatoe salad looked good, but had this weird bitter after taste, I can't determine what it is, but it spoiled the potatoe salad for me.
Now the meats. The porks ribs were actually pretty good, tender, flavorful, just not enough in my opinion. The brisket was also on point, tender with plenty of favor.
I liked both sauces, so I switched back and forward, but the hot was "hot" to me.
Final notes, they lost points for not updating their online prices, serving size, and the odd taste of the potatoe salad. I didn't go lower because the "taste" was actually good, so I would recommend you check them out for yourself.
I wouldn't go out my way, and they wouldn't be my first choice (because I like trying new things unless something is "super good,") but if the opportunity arose I would probably visit them again.
I should have taken a pic, but I was starved by the time I got in and simply forgot. The online photos of the portions are pretty consistent except for the...
Read moreChasin Tail BBQ is in Lake Dallas, located north of Lewisville and south of Denton on the east side of IH-35E. No trouble finding it if you use WAZE. It used to be on the other side of the freeway. Now they have more seating but do not have a drive-thru. They added fries to the menu when they moved to the new location. The place is known for their BBQ sauce. It comes in original and spicy versions. My favorite is the loaded baked potato with pulled pork and spicy sauce. It is easily a meal by itself. They have delicious banana pudding, and they sell slabs of BBQ ribs on Saturdays. Not expensive, probably less than Rudy's since Rudy's keeps raising prices. Atmosphere is family style with self serve soft drinks and free refills. The staff is friendly and usually quick with the service. They also have a location in Lewisville that I have not tried yet. They accept credit cards but do not have their own delivery drivers. No alcohol at this location, so it is OK to bring the kids. Be sure to ask about the lunch special if you arrive on a weekday during...
