Liberation Coffee Co. — Restaurant in Lake Dallas

My husband and I enjoy trying out new coffee shops on the weekend and came across this one and stopped in on July 26. We will not be back. The coffee wasn't that great, but the real reason is the very cold reception we got from the barista. From the website: "environment free of judgment, welcoming people from all walks of life". We most definitely did not feel this way during our brief visit. There were no other customers being served at that time and so I tried to engage in some conversation, but she clearly did not want to. We had a strong sense that she was offended by my husband's politically affiliated apparel. Who knows what her issue was but I've never experienced such overt coldness and unwelcoming attitude in a coffee shop before. She could barely seem to bring herself to respond when I asked a few questions about the place, and seemed to deliberately avoid eye contact and turned her back while speaking to us even though it wasn't necessary for the drink prep. She never cracked a smile. We left quickly, and couldn't help but have a good laugh about the stark contrast of the company message compared to her attitude. We wish her well, and hope that she will learn to show kindness to everyone, including those whose opinions might differ from hers. This young woman will have a happier life if she learns this...

Amazing coffee as always. At the end of December I was heading home with the family only to learn that someone had rammed their car through the building and they were closed for repairs. Considering I consider this one of the best (if not THE best) coffee shop in the area, this was devastating. Cue about a week ago when I called to see if they were open, only to learn that they had reopened about 2 weeks before. I happened to have to head that way and I stopped in for my usual lavender mocha. Well, I was not disappointed at all. The quality was still absolutely incredible.

And today I had to head that way again to take my 10 year old son for a dental appointment. So, of course, I stopped in for another lavender mocha and a hot chocolate for my son before bringing him back to school. Now, he is very critical of hot chocolate. I've made it from scratch with milk and chips and he still didn't like it but his reaction to Liberation's hot chocolate was like nothing I had seen from him. He has essentially sworn off all other hot chocolate except for anything from Liberation.

I always come here to enjoy their neat and unique coffees as I do laundry next door, which is another review I am gonna write (5star place too!!), and work on art. I absolutely love it. Love the baristas I have met, especially the manager! So pleasant, such a nice environment, it feels like that perfect little coffee shop you look forward to visiting in the winter time! And their coffee is great every time!! They have awesome flavors and the smoothies are really good too.

Happy to have found my favorite, cozy spot to just relax and enjoy...
