Pinoy Pam's Best — Restaurant in Lake Forest

DO NOT EAT HERE. IT IS NOT WORTH IT. First off, I read bad yelp reviews of this place about how the food was horrible and the staff are incredibly rude and don’t care about the customers, but being Filipino, I decided to give them a chance and have a meal here today. I had 2 main dishes with some rice, the 1st dish (adobo) was pretty good, 2nd dish (tocino) was totally disgusting. The meat tasted really old like it was in the freezer for a very long time or it was recooked for multiple days. I thought about it for a while and ultimately decided to have my 2nd dish changed and went up to the counter, I wanted to avoid insulting them or anything so I say with an easy tone, “I think the meat in this dish is kind of off, can I get it replaced?” and the cashier instantly puts on this face like she was uninterested and didn’t want to deal with my complaint. She then calls the attention of a middle-aged women, which I’m guessing is the manager and cook of the place, and tells her I think somethings wrong with the food and want to get it replaced. She too, puts on this irritated face and asks me whats wrong with the food, I tell her the food doesn’t taste right and that I want it replaced with a different dish, she then tells me that I shouldn’t be complaining about how the food tastes because that’s the way she’s been cooking the dish for years. She also adds that she won’t replace my food cause I already ate some of it. At this point I’m ready to just leave, I tell them to forget it, throw my the food in the trash and walkout. If I were only posting about the food itself I would have to say the food's flavor is good maybe even great, however the consistency of no smiling and joyfully greeting guests is becoming old for me.😐 As well, the standard of being able to provide hot food from ordering till receiving your plate and sitting down to eat is less than mediocre. The long lines and the lack of management on the register or checking out process is third world status for sure. This place needs to appreciate their booming business and invest in a couple of more cash registers to ensure appropriate timing for checkout. Our food is always COLD by the time we get it and this is the last three visits. We will most definitely look for another Filipino restaurant as we are Lake Forest residents and have been dedicated and committed to Pam's. Very unfortunate... I hope this place success and wish them the best and I hope they are able to move forward with the signs of this time and TRUST in the proper investments to ensure long-term success with their company. If that will be the case my family will most definitely return with excitement. I apologize for the brutally honest review butt have considered doing this in the past and stopped myself due to feeling and loyal to this restaurant. 06.21.22 Patience is what you'll need when you stop by and join the line of folks waiting to order and pay for food. There's no doubt about the cooks here - great food and authentic Filipino food. The folks who take orders are great, too. There's only one checkout and the clerk at check out works fast as she can (I have not seen a male clerk at check out). If you don't mind waiting for good food, then you'll be fine because you'll leave wanting to eat right away. For non-Filipinos and wanting to try or open to try any kind of food, you may want to ask for something that is less salty. Salt and pepper are not typical at dining tables in Philippines so food is generally prepared 'to taste' and if you ordered to eat there, be prepared that food might be cold (if long wait line) and in really cheap styrofoam plates. I hope they'll think about switching to more environmentally-friendly paper plates. Three stars only because the flow from order to pay can be improved. I hope the owner sees this review because that part of customer service can be improved. Think logistics like UPS and your business will see customers double or triple.
