Domino's Pizza — Restaurant in Lake Havasu City

Ordered by phone, the guy was courteous and honest about being new at Dominos and still learning. I said no problem take your time. He proceeded with ordering and said it may take an hour before getting here at our hotel. I then said I'll just pick up when ready in 30 mins. he said OK. When I was leaving to pickup I notice a Dominos delivery person arrive and I saw he go to our room. We told him I opted to pick up. Then as I offered to pay with my debit, he said that has to be done over the phone. So I paid cash with my last $40. Leaving the driver more than $5 tip. When we open the box we discovered the deluxe pizza had only cheese. I called the store and told another guy what happened. The guy was also courteous and quickly apologized and said he'll put it a rush job to send us the correct order. About 30 minutes later another delivery person arrived with the correct pizza and she immediately asked "Do you have something for me?" I thought she was referring if I have payment for the pizza. I told her it's free for their mix up. She said she knew that but do I have anything FOR HER --as in a tip. I was a bit taken back and told her no. She insisted and said " Not even a dollar??" I said no. As I closed the door I can hear her saying " Not even $1??. As pizza fan, I can't say the many times I've ordered pizza delivery, but I can say I've NEVER ever been insisted to give a tip by the delivery person. I immediately call the store and spoke with the manager, Matthew. Explained what just happened and ask if it's Domino's policy to have its drivers to ask for tips from its customer. This LHC, AZ location normally does quite well; HOWEVER, the online ordering did not do very well for us (okay me). I needed to place an Order so I could run errands and have it delivered at dinner time when I returned. This location would not allow that,...so instead I tried to find a way to "Save" my Order so I could pickup where I left off. There was not intuitive or instructive way that I could see on the website. I ordered a pizza and got a little upset that delivery took about an hour and twenty minutes. I just got an email that offered to make it right by either giving me a 20% off coupon or a free pizza with Domino's points. Gerald, the delivery driver, was very polite and courteous when delivering my pizza. He also appeared to be stressed and busy. I had to humble myself; the pizza being delivered slightly outside of the estimated window of time of 50 to 65 minutes is not a big deal at all. Lake Havasu City is a vacation/tourist town through and through. This location was likely pinned down with orders.
