Ordered breakfast to be delivered. The French toast sure didn't look like the other person's review picture. It was ok, they put cinnamon on the French toast.
My complaint is about the biscuits and gravy. They were horrible, not homemade that's for sure.Instant out of the package and not a good one at that. No real sausage added in it either. They were over thick abd gritty. Non of us couldn't even eat them. My husband's family is from the south and make biscuits and gravy all the time. Its either sausage gravy or bacon.
If the owners at Peggy's read this here's an excellent recipe from our family. You use Jimmy Deans breakfast sausage breakfast up small in a pot and brown it. (For small amount one package of sausage for large amount 3 pkgs or more) you want enough sausage in it. Add full fat milk and fill big pot half way.. Do this the night before and put in refrigerator over night. In morning take out (doing the night before gives gravy really good flavor. ) Add more milk to make to make pot 3/4 full, and sprinkle in a lot of black pepper. Heat cook a short time and let it boil watching and stirring it. Mean time take a cup or two of cold milk put flour in it and mix up so it's not lumpy.. You have to use your judgement on how much your making. Add to hot milk slowly continuing to stir and cook until thickened. I do not have an excat recipe, it's done by sight.
Years ago there used to be in Havasu the best family little restaurant behind the Travel Lodge, Cheetah Bob told us about it. They made the best biscuits and gravy, it tasted like mine and the best eggs Benedict with homemade holiday sauce. They were always busy. Later on the lady that owned got older and tired and sold it. It's some...
Read morePeggy Sunrise Café in Lake Havasu is the ultimate hidden gem that will make you question why you ever ate anywhere else. This family-owned and operated marvel will embrace you like a long-lost cousin at a family reunion—complete with all the awkward hugs and unsolicited life advice you never knew you needed.
Every time I pass through town, Peggy's is my non-negotiable pit stop. Missing it would be like skipping the Grand Canyon on a road trip: unthinkable and borderline illegal. The homestyle greasy spoon cooking is so mouthwatering, you'll start a petition to add their bacon to the list of world wonders.
Some of my fondest memories have been made over breakfast at this restaurant. Recovering from a night out of partying in Lake Havasu? Peggy’s breakfast will nurse you back to life. Lost a bet and had to shave your legs? No worries. Even if your friends are too intoxicated to help bandage you up, Peggy is the mom who will step in to help. I love this place.
Feeling hungry? Peggy's got you covered. Craving some greasy goodness? Say no more. They serve up dishes with enough love and calories to keep you warm through an Arizona winter. One bite of their breakfast special, and you'll be writing sonnets about their hash browns.
Peggy Sunrise Café: where the food is so good, you'll weep tears of joy—and maybe some...
Read moreThis was our first visit to Peggy's Sunrise Cafe and we absolutely loved it, I would give 100 stars if I could. It's a small place off the beaten path, but it is definitely worth going. We had breakfast and it was wonderful. I had the chili cheese omelet with biscuits and gravy, and my wife had steak and eggs with toast. I am a snob when it comes to biscuits and gravy but I try them everywhere I go, and have to say these were some of the best I've ever had. The omelet was amazing as were the hash browns, both had a wonderful buttery flavor and were cooked to perfection. The steak was ordered to medium and was perfectly cooked and delicious. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. They were attentive without being obnoxious or overbearing. The restaurant itself is quaint, brightly lit, and inviting. They have both tables and booths for seating. We got there early and got a booth with no wait, but when we left there was a line outside of the door. We will absolutely be going there again and again. A month later and we are back again. Another fantastic breakfast with...
