If I am correct, this place use to be located downtown and they just recently relocated. Their new home is located on the edge of Lake Oswego and Tigard in a business plaza. It is located a few blocks from Trader Joes and shares the plaza with Pizzicato. It is directly across from Key Furniture store and is kitty-cornered to Chevy's Mexican restaurant. Look for the Kruse Meadows sign.
We are so very blessed to have so many options in this area for this type of cuisine. I am a huge fan of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine I could eat it everyday. I welcome you to the neighborhood. I wish you much success in your business.
This business is operated as a fast casual plus. A patron can order take out or dine in. Order at the counter and take a number and someone will run out your order for you. A person will check back to make sure everything is satisfactory and pick up the plates at the end of your meal.
Cleanliness 5/5 star Everything was clean and bright. The tables were clean and nothing was sticky.
Friendliness 5/5 star Yes the lady at the counter/food runner was very friendly and helpful.
Atmosphere -Fast casual plus 5/5 star Yes nice use of space. This is designed well. Benches and chairs. Yes it felt more like a cafe and not like fast food.
Service - fast casual plus 5/5 star Yes the service was fast and friendly. There were tins of extra napkins and forks at every table. I like this. This is very convenient for the patron. In fast casual the patron gets their own beverages. i.e. water and soda unless they order coffee, tea, beer or wine.
Price/value- slightly above average in price as compared to other fast casual Mediterranean/middle eastern restaurants within a few miles radius. Other establishments of this kind offer online coupons or groupons. This is something the owners may look into in the future to stay competitive.
Cuisine --- I read from another reviewer that this version is Jordanian. I have never had Jordanian cuisine before so I am not sure how the seasonings are focused for this particular country. I have had a lot of different middle eastern and medditrainian in my lifetime. So here is my point of view--
Pita bread 3.8/5 star for now. It would have been 5 star but it was overcooked and crisp and some of it was burnt. I would like to very politely ask you to turn down the heat/fire to the oven. Having fresh big pita is outstanding, but I can't eat the burnt parts. This should be an easy fix to improve your business an patron experience.
-Baba ganjoush 3.0/5 star. Not as flavorful as others I have had in the past. It was missing that smokey flavor that people crave. -Hummus 4.2/5 star very good. -Grape leaves not sure if they are made in house? 3.0/5 star. Basic -Spinach pie 5/5 star Wonderful flavorful delicious. -Lentil soup 4.2/5 star The spinach pie and the lentil soup with it's peppery flavor are a wonderful matchup. That combo would make an excellent lunch. -Falafel 3.2/5 star. Good but not the best we ever had. A bit on the dry side. -Lamb Shawarma with curry rice 3.5/5 star. -Tabbouleh 4.8/5 Star. seasoned well and very lemony. Excellent.
I can't wait to return and sample some of their other offerings. I have my eye on that cheese pie and the stew. Thank you and good luck with...
Read moreOnline, Phone and Customer Service Is Intolerable I am a long-time repeat customer and certainly understand the problems presented by a shift to take-out and the delays that can result. However, Hush Hush has not adapted as well and evidences a rudeness that renders it a place not to patronize. Spend your money on other small businesses trying to survive and act like they appreciate it. I ordered online and my requests were ignored, so my order was screwed up and part not edible. I figured this was a one-time mistake, so on my next order was by phone tonight. However, I was put on hold because the woman answering the phone said she was busy. So I waited, and apparently when the woman returned to help me, she hung up on me instead, obviously hitting the wrong button. I called back and she again put me on hold and again I waited, and then again she hung up on me minutes later. The third time, she said she was putting me on hold and I said "no:", because she had hung up on me before. She insisted she had not hung up on me, refusing to acknowledge her error in how she handled the phone system. She begrudgingly took my order rather than putting me on hold. But when I went to pick up my order as I was paying and had just checked the box to leave her tip that was not deserved but I made anyway, she started to lecture me about being patient and she was busy with others who had priority. I told her she had hung up on me and she argued, that she had not and it was I who had hung up. I could not believe what I was hearing. I told her she needed to learn to take responsibility for her mistakes and left. This is no way to treat a customer. Had she simply thought about it and said, perhaps I hit the wrong button on the phone twice, which she had, and apologized for making me wait twice, that would have been the end of the matter, but lecturing me and arguing with me about her mistakes and the inconvenience she had caused, is no way to run a business. While the food is good, it is not exceptional and it is not worth this kind of grief, when there are other small restaurants, which are really working hard to stay alive and appreciate the business they get from those of us who try to patronize them and tip them generously so they can survive...
Read moreMy family and I went to Hush Hush to grab a meal, however upon arrival, we experienced shockingly racist and disrespect behavior, complete unnecessary for a family run business and restaurant.
Their staff utterly mocked us with their speech and blatantly rude remarks both verbally and physically. And unfortunately, it wasn’t just one or two of their workers but the majority of them as they were all laughing at us and repeating and mocking our words, as if we weren’t in front of them watching. My family and I only asked for utensils yet their response was to joke and chide at us, continuing to repeat our words again and again with an overly exaggerated accent. It was such a terrible and deprecating feeling to enter a family owned restaurant where we were excited to enjoy some gyros but instead got served by rude and poor service from the staff. Their behavior shows complete and utter lack of professional service. It is unfortunate to be treated this way ever, and especially in a food business where we intended to take our time and money to support their business. But never again.
We had gone to Hush Hush for years now and are retuning customers, but after this racist encounter from the staff, we will definitely be taking our money and experience for good Mediterranen food elsewhere. I recommend Oasis or Baba’s Mediterranean Cuisine instead where we have always gotten terrific and pleasant service from staff and owners for the past 10+ years.
Hush Hush staff and owner behavior is completely unacceptable in any type of business. Definitely won’t ever be returning there again. Awful and an easily...
