First off I want to say I'm not normally a person to complain unless I gave good reason and I'm just slightly upset and let down by Hilton again.
We stayed at the hotel recently using a be my guest certificate from a previous Hilton Garden Inn horriable experience which I'm not going to give details on due to the fact it wasn't this hotel. I was excited to give them another shot. I love Hilton and only stay at Hilton when one is where I'm going but Hilton Garden Inn is over priced for the service and rooms. Now this is only my second time staying at this chain of Hilton maybe it's just plan bad luck on my part but I'm beyond unimpressed.
The rooms look decent nicely decorated but not over the top. Has nice features to plug your cord instead of the whole wall plung in for your phone. But looks are sometimes deceiving the shower didn't work at first I messed with it for a good 20 to 30 minutes then got upset got dressed went to the lobby no one in sight. Took a deep breath went back to out room and another 20 minutes later finally found you have to position it just right to get the shower head to work BUT you don't get all the water some runs out the bath tub faucet so pressure is awful but no worries as least I got a shower.
The beds ..... are old and worn out which you can tell when you sit on them and can hear the springs. They are uncomfortable and squeaky far from impressed. I have boney hips and sleep on my side I'm still recovering from the pain hopefully by the end of the day I will feel better.
Upon check in the gentleman at the front desk was replacing batteries in a remote for another guest maybe I should have left then... He was friendly but not overly friendly or informative at all just normal business about the card being charged for so much and what floor do you want. No pool is open tell blah we have a bar you can get drinks and and order dinner from blah to blah or you can buy breakfast from blah to blah thank you for choosing Hilton enjoy your stay nope none of the usually courteous gestures Hilton normally gives. Just business have a great day 👍All that being said even if Hilton Garden Inn is "supposed" to be one of their nicer chains I'm not staying again. One awful experience to another I'm done! Between need to make sure rooms are in working order to the services ALWAYS lacking at this select chain I'm not...
Read moreThe hotel was clean and staff was polite. Located just off the 5 freeway is easy to find and not to far from Portland. Recently remodeled however our room appears that maybe it was still not yet remodeled. It was not as comfortable as I would have expected. The bed is nice and a good amount of space on the room with a single King bed. However the TV size to distance from the bed just seemed off. There is a longer desk counter that holds the TV and we're you can setup a computer work area which is kind of uncomfortable. The room could stand to have a bit better noise reduction as it echos a bit and if You're at the computer space and some one else is watching TV the sound is either blasting loud for one or the other can bit hear. That being said there is not too much noise from neighboring rooms or side of hearing other toilet flushes or showers running. Disappointed that a contenental breakfast is not included but they do offer some food selections from their kitchen around $10+ a person. The staff have been helpful but seem to have mutiple newer personnel and still a bit under staffed. It took them around 2hrs past normal check in to get a room. It was a bit of a rush job, we needed to ask for a second set of towels and to clean up something that was overlooked but they did that fast, professionally and there was no hint of annoyance for it being pointed out. Some online pictures show a septate desk than TV stand, different microwave and Kureig coffee setup than ours so maybe some of the room re-model is still ongoing. There is an indoor pool and jacuzzi but we have not used it yet. Parking underground in addition to around the hotel has not been an issue finding space. Mutiple near by restaurants help...
Read moreBeen using this hotel for group business trips for the past several years. If you have work or personal travel in this area, I can't recommend this hotel enough.
First, Alex is one of the most amazingly customer-focused sales managers I have ever had the pleasure with which to deal. Prompt responses. Value-added reservations. Accommodating of requests. That praise extends to those who run the front desk as well. Never had a negative experience with any of the employees.
Second, the property is great. Close to the freeway access, but without traffic noise. Nicely maintained. Comfortable rooms with good amenities. Lobby that provides a variety of additional services (bar, breakfast, etc.) for the traveler needing those.
Third, for the price, and given the location, this is a great value. Yes, you are not in Portland proper. But you are close. And it beats other hotels in the same area relative to price and condition (some charge too much for too little, or are legacy brands that need some updates, or are budget properties that aren't worth the price or the location).
[[[[[[If there is any quibble, it is a small one: the shift to dispenser-based shampoo, conditioner, and lotion is an understandable one in terms of cost and 'green' considerations. But . . . they are not tamper-proof. That might not matter to some (and it really doesn't, for the most part, to me). Just an observation, and one I make recognizing that many other brands have also shifted to this approach for the reasons listed above.]]]]]
All in all, highly recommended!!! Can't say enough positive things about my experiences at this property. Can't wait to...
