Party of 6 with 3 children at 6:30PM on a weeknight. We had to wait for a table for 15 minutes which isn't too bad for a good restaurant and a large party. We were hopeful that we had found a good place to eat since they were full and the aroma was so good! When I was searching for places, I looked for family style chinese restaurant for families. Walking into this place, I could tell I would have to make my children behave even more than our typical restaurant (spaghetti factory or red robin). Thankfully they did great, but it was a source of anxiety through the whole dinner. The food was delicious compared to our normal Chinese fare (Happy's in Gladstone which is no longer in business after many years). We ordered the barbecue pork and sampler for the appetizer - it was good, but the barbecue pork was a little bland to me - I guess that's what the sauce is for. We also had the house soup which was not my favorite - I love a basic egg drop soup, but it was good and between the 6 of us we finished a serving bowl meant for 2. We ordered a lot for our main course because we wanted to try several things - the house fried rice was delicious and moist, the sweet and sour pork and chicken were moist and not too sweet. Our family favorite was the Happy Family Reunion - it was so tasty of a dish that we could order it all on it's own. I gave it 4 stars only because this is a place I couldn't see taking my kids to on a regular basis ... or maybe ever again. Maybe next time I'll see if I can pick up a to go order, because they were good enough to make the...
Read moreWe just ordered from this place tonight. We ordered the General Tso’s Chicken and the Crispy Orange Beef. I NEVER leave reviews but after eating this, I felt a sense of responsibility towards other people who scour reviews like I do. I want to help others avoid feeling ripped off and with a bad taste in their mouth like we did.
As a warning, we are by no means “foodie” or pretentious when it comes to our taste in food. My husband and I tend to lean towards cheap eats with big portions. Proud of it.
At $14 per plate, we were expecting large portions to save for later and excellent flavors as the 4.4 stars flaunts it to be. WRONG. The General Tso’s had a burnt flavor (you can tell they cooked it in the same pan as something they burned earlier). The chicken was chewy and lacking flavor. The Crispy Orange Beef was ok in flavor after we spent a few minutes picking out the dozens of inedible orange peels. In addition, there is a SERIOUS lack of sauce in BOTH of these dishes! Nothing. Sorry sauce lovers, Hunan Pearl ain’t got it.
In summation, don’t go here? I don’t understand why they get 4.4 stars on Google. Has to be fake. We’ve tried this place twice, each time leaving unimpressed. SAVE. YOUR. MONEY. I’ve never regretted a decision more when it comes to my food. Even McDonald’s sounds infinitely better. I won’t make the same mistake again. I want...
Read moreFrom 10/07/23 (Ethan was awesome) I went into the restaurant and spoke with the Restaurant Manager Ethan on 10/07/23 and he was super apologetic about the negative food. Now keep in my mind all I wanted was a refund but Ethan went above and beyond. Not only did I get a refund, he was insistent that they offer to redo my meal and he also gave me fried rice, Sweet/Sour Soup. I politely declined as I would have felt guilty about taking a refund plus free food, but he convinced me of his generous offer.
The food this time was way better, the soup and fried rice were really yummy... I'm glad I took a chance to talk to management and just provide my feedback. Thank you for a positive experience the review has been updated to reflect your generosity and customer service :)
From 10/06/23 I ordered the Mongolian beef and it was ready for pickup relatively quick after I had placed my order. I got home into my surprise there is absolutely no flavor it's just meat vegetables and abundance of oil that's all it is. Unfortunately the place was near closing when I left I called and left a message I will update this review when I get a response back from...
