The food is so bad. I love Koeean food but this was not appetizing at all.
The jap chae arrived overcooked. I did attempt to eat a few bites but after wrestling with the noodles due to the overly gummy texture- I gave up. I requested to return the dish. The server informed me that japchae is supposed to be gummy. This is absolutely not true. Don't accept noodles you can't actually chew.
The bulgolgi arrived cooked in veggies which was a surprise. There wasn't much meat- maybe seven (7) small pieces. The dish wasn't spicy despite paying the upcharge for spicy. There was watery broth at the bottom of the bowl. Bulgolgi is not supposed to be served as a soup or a stir fried vegetable dish.
The ban chan was decent. My dining partner liked the kimchi. The soup was miso- like but no discernable flavor.
The rice off- like it had sat too long and was no longer fresh.
Ps. My dining partner suffered gi distress later that day after the meal....
Read moreRun, don’t walk to Mercato Grove. We went to the soft opening tonight of Sool K-Food and are SO excited to have a solid Korean spot in this part of town. Out of excitement, we ordered way too much but have no regrets. The soondubu jjigae and corn cheese came out bubbling and were delicious. The bulgogi was presented beautifully with lovely banchan and miyeok guk. The cheese pull on the corn cheese and tteokbokki was so satisfying and perfectly melty and stretchy. Japchae was satisfyingly chewy and bouncy, and our steamed egg was perfectly fluffy. Our cocktails, the soju sour and strawberry paradise, were on point and so good. All of the staff were so friendly and accommodating, making sure everyone was happy and had what they needed. The space is well designed and decorated, with big clean bathrooms (and a baby changing table!!). As you can tell, we had an amazing experience and I’m very excited for the grand opening next weekend so I can have more great Korean...
Read moreFlavor wise the food was very good. Unfortunately the portions were very small. The veggie to protein ratio was off. The banchan was tasty but again small portions. There were 4 of us and we only got one small set of banchan.
Based off the pricing you would think the portions are shareable since one entree is $20-$25. The portions are definitely for one person only unless you eat very little. We got rice with our meals but it was so little like maybe one paddle of rice and that was it.... kinda strange in my opinion. My FIL and MIL shared an entree ans only got one small paddle of rice to share (like probably a 1/4th of a cup)
Staff was really nice and friendly.
In total my partner and I spend $60 for 2 entrees and a sprite. I guess its the lake oswego tax 🤷♀️ I'd skip this place and drive to beaverton for better...
