I was at FOX in Beverly on 6/1/2019 and have frequented this establishment for many years approx 30 years. I had pizza as I always do and My husband had the Broasted Chicken. I ate about 3 to 4 pieces of the pizza and virtually the whole pizza was almost left. In the past they have always placed my pizza on a board and placed in white paper bag however this day the boy who was a bus boy pulled my pizza apart and stuffed it in a Styrofoam. When he brought it back to the table i asked him why he did that and I told him I did not want that pizza that had been stuffed in a container by him. He dropped a knife on the floor and placed it back on my table. He got the waitress who I also expressed my dissatisfaction and she got the manager. I expressed my dismay and she was very nasty and told us that we should not come back there any more. I told he I was not going to pay for that piazza after they had done that and she asked if I wanted pieced back on a cardboard and I told he no I did not want anyone handling my food like that and that it was all smashed together. Again, she told me we did need to come there any more and I told her I refused to pay for the pizza I would pay for the broasted chicken and we went back and forth for a second and I said to her that the customer is always right and she told me that is not the case. So she picked up the container on my table and slammed it in the garbage however she didn't realize because she was so angry with us that she had thrown away my husbands meal the broasted chicken. When my husband told her she had thrown his food in the garbage she reached in the garbage as if she wanted to place it back in the container and give it to him. At that point I refused to pay for anything and left. This is the first time I have every had a problem at this restaurant and since I was asked not to return there I will not I am not sure if it was because my husband is African American or not but the other waitresses have always placed my pizza on a board and wrapped up that way that way I was so surprised to see it torn apart and stiffed in a container. I called to speak to the owner on 6/2/2019 but he was not available but I did express my concerns and dissatisfaction to the lady on the phone. I want to say in this day in time we should treat each other with respect. This was totally disrespectful and to tell us not to come back there was typical of a racist remark . This is not the last of this because it needs to be resolved appropriately and I feel we are owed an apology. I know Tom Fox and his family would never stand for this type of behavior of customers that have supported his business...
Read moreOkay, first the pizza is STILL outstanding, no issue here with that at all. The reason for the four stars instead of the actual five available is due to customer service and pricing. Just so you know that I speak of what I know, I have been eating Fox's pizza for 50 years. I was coming to Fox's with my dad when Mr. Tom was working as an electrician during the day and making pizza at night, and his lovely wife (with four kids in tow) was doing deliveries. First thing, I went to Fox's tonight to pick up two medium pizzas, one with extra sausage, one with pepperoni, mushrooms, and black olives, it was $48.00. Second thing, I didn't appreciate all the playing around, loud music, singing, delivery drivers loud talking, and inappropriate snyde comments. Luckily another patron, whom used to be a former Fox's long time employee, saw the same things that I had, and we discussed them briefly in the parking lot. She and I both agreed that the pricing is a bit steep now, and that Mr. Tom and his wife would never had stood for any of this front area mess taking place PERIOD!!! I have witnessed this type of carrying on up front on my last two visits. The pizza is GOOD, but $20.00 for a medium sausage is a bit much, and the games and professionalism taking place isn't helping any, and makes Baroccos look all the better, in both areas. I hope Mr. Tom's children can get a hold on these thing's before it gets out of hand. Read moreI suggested Fox for a quick bite after leaving the final fitting for my friends wedding dress. Our waitress Kathy was wonderful, however when we she explained she had to get the manager to address a member of our party's dissatisfaction with their steak things went left. The manager was not empathetic to the fact that a member of our party was not satisfied with her steak and immediately began saying "well I'm not taking it off". We explained that it made my friend ill (she literally ran to the washroom to vomit) and instead of being empathetic, she actually stated "maybe she has covid". There was never a request to remove the steak from the bill, she never offered her something else, nor did she offer a discount. In fact the manager was contrary from the onset and extremely rude. I tried to de-escalate the conversation and said we'll you'll see what we do and she assumed that I meant we weren't going to pay (I meant a negative public review) and then proceeded to snatch the dinner plates from two others within my party that was closest to her reach. I have never experienced such horrible customer service. Ultimately we left without finishing our food, without paying for the meal but we made sure to leave cash tips for Kathy as it was not her fault! I'm not sure what caused the manager Ashley's bad day, but we definitely took the brunt of it and if she can't provide better customer service than that she needs to seek employment elsewhere!
