I went here for breakfast on Monday, April 21, and had an absolutely dehumanizing experience. I arrived with one other person and we both ordered the same thing: steak and eggs. When our food arrived, we immediately noticed that my steak was significantly smaller than the steak of the person I was with. Despite it being the exact same meal, the difference was dramatic, and it would’ve been ridiculous to pay the same price for such difference sized steaks.
When I brought this up to our server, they were understanding and working to figure something out. That’s when the owner came out and the nightmare started.
I tried expressing my issue to him but he was committed to misunderstanding me and started to yell he wasn’t going to do anything and I had no choice but to eat the steak. Still trying to express my issue, he continued to yell and disrespect me to the point that other guests were looking over to see him standing over me while cursing and berating me.
As a grown, Black man, in an establishment full of Black people, it was completely inappropriate for this white man to come stand over me, point his finger in my face, and talk to me the way he did. Saying he “wouldn’t do a damn thing” to fix the situation because he’s the owner and he can do what he wants.
Not once did I use foul language or raise my voice, but this was still the energy I was met with.
If my elderly sister had not start eating her food, which she wasn’t satisfied with as well, I wouldn’t have paid for either. Because he was not trying to hear what I was saying and ignored whatever I said to him.
I never imagined that a place I have come to for years with family and friends would make me feel so dehumanized and disrespected. I will be letting everyone know about this horrendous experience and doing everything in my power to see change at this establishment, because what I went through was completely unacceptable, and no human should be treated like that in general, let alone at a place where they’re bringing...
Read moreI recently visited Lumes Pancake House and had an incredible breakfast experience that left me wanting more. From the moment I stepped through the door, I was greeted with warm smiles and a cozy atmosphere that made me feel right at home. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee and mouthwatering pancakes filled the air, instantly whetting my appetite. I decided to try something different and ordered their waffles with cinnamon apple slices, and boy, was it a fantastic choice! The presentation of the dish was impeccable, with golden-brown waffles adorned with a generous amount of perfectly cooked cinnamon apple slices. Each bite was a heavenly combination of fluffy waffles and tender, caramelized apples bursting with flavors. The waffles were achieving a delightful balance of crispy edges and a soft, pillowy center. The cinnamon apple slices added a delightful hint of sweetness and warmth, perfectly complementing the waffles. It was a match made in brunch heaven! The service was exceptional. The staff members were super friendly. They promptly attended to our needs and ensured that we were comfortable throughout our visit. The menu was extensive, offering a wide variety of pancake and waffle options, making it a great place for both classic and adventurous brunch enthusiasts. Read moreSo I want to warn everyone who eats here or is thinking about eating here: This Lumes has ROACHES!! 😖 And this just happened today. We were the last customers there as it was a rainy day and we got there around 3:30 pm. I agree that the customer service was pretty decent. However, our appetite was completely ruined at the end, because I noticed something big and brown crawling along the window sill. I asked my mom what it was and she said it was a roach. I jumped up so fast. We were totally grossed out. The manager Beverly caught the roach in a napkin. She was not afraid of it at all. She apologized and said that they never have that problem. She said maybe it was from the customers who were sitting there before. She didn't offer us a refund, but offered us free breakfast next time, saying she will remember our faces, but honestly, why would we want to eat there again? Thanks, but no thanks. There won't be a next time. I really hope they exterminate the place as soon as possible, because that roach was pretty big. If there's one, there may...
