Mariscos El Puerto 2 — Restaurant in Lake Township

First time we went was a Saturday and there was a 2 hour wait so decided to leave and go back during the week instead to avoid waiting so long. We went back on a WED and we were immediately seated. I got the steak with garlic shrimp and a passion fruit margarita. My husband got a coctel de camaron and a miche. The food was awesome and I loved the drink. What I did not like was waiting and constantly trying to get someone’s attention. When we ordered our second drink it took about an hour to receive our order. Since the drinks were taking so long I asked for water and even the water took another 30 minutes. Mind you we were sitting right next to the bar. Waiting to be served and waiting to receive our orders was the biggest disappointment. Nonetheless, we gave it another try with a few coworkers and it was even worse. The staff is very friendly but the service takes WAY TO LONG! We spent $325 between four of us and on top of that there is a 4% charge for using a card. We also ordered a few shots of Don Julio which is something we have all had before and the shot we received was definitely not Don Julio. This place is ok. Definitely not worth the wait or hassle of chasing down the waitress’s for service. We saw people at other tables getting up and going to the bar to grab their drinks because of the LONG WAIT. Side note: there is one bathroom for ladies and one for men. For the traffic this place brings in. They should try to make the restroom bigger😒 because the bathrooms are pretty gross. After this place got remodeled, we decided to give it a try. We saw sponsored videos on TikTok and it looked like a blast, but don’t be fooled. My group and I arrived at 9 pm, and it was packed. We wrote down our names, and we were told it would be a 30-minute wait. It ended up being an hour which was understandable. We got seated at 10:05 pm. We ordered our drinks around 10:15 pm. Our drinks did not come until 10:50 pm. For the food, the waitress finally got back to us, and we put our order in at 10:58 pm. We got our food by 11:40, and the place closes at midnight. We waited for 30 minutes for a bucket of beers and two drinks of water. We did not enjoy the vibe to eat and drink because the service was horrible, and the music was a buzzkill. They can have a song playing, and halfway into the song, they take it off, it’s silent, and 1 minute later put another one, and that goes on repeat for the whole night. The food and drinks were good, but I don’t recommend it. It’s not worth the wait. Another downfall besides the horrible service is no split checks. There’s a 4% charge when using credit/debit. There’s an 18% service fee included on your bill, but they say the tip is not included. Went here for Mother’s Day! Checked in waited 2 and a half hours for our seat for a party of 6. And that was after I had went in to check how much longer we had to be seated. Looked at the sign in sheet to see where my place was in line to see they sat about 20 people ahead of me and my party. When asked why all those people where seated before me the lady said because they had a smaller group. I had to stand there and ask over again how much longer the wait would be finally after another 15 mins we where seated next to the loudest speaker. When asked to be moved they moved us over by the front door. Which was uncomfortable as well being all the people standing waiting by the door to get in and check in. The internet definitely hyped this place up too much! Food was a 4 out of 10 everything was given on paper plates and paper forks. We order a tray of crab legs prawns and shrimp. They gave up 2 scoops of rice with our big tray of food we had to use plastic forks to crack our crab legs! The huge mimosa was watered down! I ordered a cantarito tasted like nothing but juice! When asked out waitresses if there was any alcohol she said I asked for another shot so she took my drink to have them add another shot to my drink came back with it tasting the same!
