You don’t have to be a professional food critic to recognize award winning taste, decorum and people. I visited my new fav BBQ restaurant on Saturday, August 23 in mid-evening. The warm temperature outside made the front entrance unpleasant BUT … they were ready for that eventuality with a huge cooler at the front entrance stocked with FREE yes free cold bottled water for guest.

The Hispanic gentleman at the carving station as we entered was so inviting and hospitable. A very polite, respectful young man named Trumain, who acted as the concierge for the duration of my visit (for everyone I might add) … was equally inviting, hospitable, and friendly promoted a feeling of family, which made everyone in line (though we waited 30 minutes) feel like they were at home and the time passed by quickly. Later, during my dining experience, I had the privilege of having a conversation with a member of management who was a beautiful young lady also very friendly and accommodating. Oh, almost forgot the most important goal of this review THE FOOD … it was soooooo delicious. From the mac & cheese, the peach tea wings, and street corn; the brisket and rib tips were very tender and the sauce, impeccable!

From the moment, I walked into the door and even visiting the clean, tastefully decorated restroom was a pleasant experience.

They ran out of greens and sweet potato cornbread so I went back the next day SUNDAY and behold same treatment same delicious choices that paired well with my leftovers from the day before because even the small entrees are ample.

The ONE (1) slice of sweet potato cornbread was close to a full-size pan that I make at home! šŸ¤·šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø

Who knew watermelon and cucumbers would pair so well as a refreshing salad on a hot summer day.

Have you ever tried to reheat french fries the next day? I usually give up, but some were stuck to my rib tips so it was inevitable… believe it or not… not kidding … they were as good as the day before. I reheated the leftover fries W/O sauce in my air fryer and ā€œtadaā€ perfection (I’m a frenchfrytarian) 🤣

I had THE most pleasant experience I’ve had in a long time in a Chicago restaurant. I don’t know who the owner is, but he or she are candidates in my opinion to replace Gordon Ramsey in teaching start ups how to run a successful small business, and serve scrumptious ā€œstick-to-the ribsā€ food while welcoming a crowd yet keeping them happy and agreeable to...

A family friendly Texas style BBQ. As with a true BBQ establishment they cook for the day and then run until out of product. Regretfully when we went they were out of 1/4 of the platter option. The Texas platter is ā…“lb brisket, ribs, and a sausage. From a smoker myself and someone who spent quite a few years in Texas learning my skills from there, I had high hopes. The price is acceptable for the food quantity, but they're not hitting the mark of a true Texas BBQ establishment. From order to table was about 15 minutes, which doesn't make sense as everything is cooked and just needs to be cut, but they were busy so it could be part of the equation. The food is sold based on weight, but the carving station didn't have a scale. As someone who watches macros on a regular, there is no way to "know" you're hitting a weight point on proteins without a scale. Another concern point was the carver using the same knife and board for beef and pork products [cross contamination on the religious sense isn't my thing, just something I'll note]. Potato Salad & Mac [sm] is a decent amount for a platter. It tasted fresh and was pretty damn good... and that's the end of the full positive. The brisket flavor was exceptional, the texture however was dry, minimal smoke ring, and missed the mark. Either cooked too high or too long, or stored without proper humidity to maintain moisture. The ribs had a beautiful smoke ring and were definitely on par with quality BBQ... minus the flavor. It was very earthy/pork forward in flavor, under seasoned for a pork rib that spends hours on a smoker. They only had the cheddar sausage, again serve until sold out, and was pretty good... except also over smoked to dry or not stored in humidity and missed the mark. The line staff were not friendly, but also not at all unfriendly. They would make eye contact between doing their jobs, but it felt as though the glass top of the serving wall was a shield and either side was a zoo exhibit of seeing each other but no interactions. The entire place was clean and the employees rotated out serving orders and bussing tables, and were polite but brunt; very Texas BBQ. Bathrooms were clean but run down.

All in all, more disappointment than raving, yet, I will definitely give them another go...

I live quite a distance in the South Suburbs from Sanders, but had a fundraising event at a local Church in the area, so I decided to try the food. Since this was my first visit, I want to try everything so I decided to order The Platter. It was not available as they were out of sausage and there were no substituting. So because of that and I wanted to have enough for the quest and my wife I had traveled with, I ordered the Catfish dinner, brisket, pulled pork, large rib tip, chicken wing dinner and had 3 different sides to go. I wanted to try the cornbread but they were out of that too. My order finally came after over a 30 min wait, which I didn’t mind. I drove all the way home to discover that the brisket and pulled pork wasn’t in my bag. Upset I called the number on the website to discuss what had happened, no answer. I even tried calling while in route, no answer after 6 attempts, then 7th and 8th attempt I got a busy signal. I drove all the way back to the city a 40 min drive to collect the missing items. Even though upset, I calmly explained what had happened, just to receive a blank stare, no one seemed to care, and said, I should have checked my bag. No apology just a distance stare by those I was explaining my major inconvenience to. Upon returning home, the pulled pork was mostly the fat cap of the pulled pork, uneatable more than half was thrown in the trash. Then I tried the small portion of the tips that I paid $20 for, they were fatty, tough and under cooked so I threw them in the trash also. The one slice of bread provided with each order was place at the bottom of each serving that was full of the grease dripping that was also thrown away. I spent close to $100, not to mention the extra time and gas returning back for food I was not satisfied with. I asked for the owner when I was there and they didn’t know who he was and never seen him and directed me to the website. James, I suggest you pop in and witness how your operation is run and sample the food quality. I was disappointed in the service, the food quality and the portion size for what I paid for was a ripoff. Maybe it’s was just my experience as I see the potential and read the other reviews but with what I experienced, I would not ever...
