I visited Cajun Shrimp and Gumbo restaurant today and left extremely disappointed. When I called to place my order, the young lady who answered the phone simply said, "Hello," which struck me as unprofessional for a business. Confused, I mentioned that I thought I had dialed a residence. She replied, "I'm sorry. Your name came up private." Regardless of the caller ID, a business phone should always be answered professionally.
During the call, I asked how many pieces of fish come with the fish order and was told three. I then placed an order for Cajun fish, and she responded stating that they had Cajun catfish and shrimp and asked me which one do I want. If catfish is the only fish option available, why ask me which one I want? I also requested chicken eggrolls, and she informed me they have buffalo chicken eggrolls.
When I arrived at the restaurant to pay for my order, I asked for the gumbo I ordered to be placed in a separate bag. The cashier seemed confused and asked, "What do you mean?" At this point, I was thinking there is a huge disconnect or I am being pranked. When I got ready to eat the catfish, I noticed there were only two pieces instead of the three I was told over the phone. I called the restaurant to clarify, and the cashier responded, "Two or three. Yeah, two." I explained that the quantity was the deciding factor in my decision to order the fish. The cashier offered no apology, resolution, or compensation—just silence. Eventually, I said "thank you," and she hung up. There was no effort to make amends, such as offering a discount on a future order or a replacement item.
This was my second visit to this restaurant. On my first visit, the fish was tasty, and the cook, whose name starts with a "D," was friendly and professional. However, today the catfish tasted gamey, and there was a different cook, a young man who was also polite and professional.
The shrimp had too much batter, seemed overcooked, and did not meet expectations. The two small eggrolls, which cost $17, were overpriced and not worth half the price. My friend tried the gumbo and said it was tasty but far too spicy for his liking.
Overall, I am soooooo upset I spent approximately $90 on food that I did not enjoy and received subpar service. I will not be patronizing this...
Read moreI read the reviews. I should have listened... I ordered the seafood egg rolls . I left the restaurant and two blocks later.. I decided to try one. I reached my hand in the bag to grab one... the egg rolls were freezing cold !!! I immediately returned to the scene of the crime.. I returned the egg rolls. They dropped them in deep fryer. Once I got them again. The eggs was burnt and cooked in some very old cooking grease. The egg rolls tasted just like fish sticks you can purchase at any grocery store. I also purchased the seafood gumbo. This was ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE !!! The rice was overcooked, and the imitation crab meat was the WORST. I STRONGLY, STRONGLY SUGGEST YOU DO NOT WASTE YOUR...
Read moreTake out restaurant. They have a small area to sit. I ordered my food online to go. I ordered the 1/2 lb of shrimp and gumbo. I give the shrimp 4/5. The shrimp had a nice spice to it and they were jumbo shrimp. It's as if they put a bit of hot sauce in the batter or used a spicy. I appreciated it but some may say it's too spicy. I had the mixed gumbo with chicken and seafood. Overall the gumbo had a nice flavor but it really disappointed me to see imitation crab meat in it. After I saw that I lost my appetite because I really dislike imitation crab meat. If you can't use real crab just don't...
