So I purchased some bakery goods today from Weber's Bakery. Which were 2 platters of the Easter egg little pound cakes. I asked if they were made fresh and they told me they were made on Wednesday, but when I got home, I tried them and they were hard and not good. We have ordered these before, and they were delicious so we thought we would try them again. The most frustrating thing is that when you go to call the bakery they have a voicemail now, and you can't leave a voicemail or leave a message until after Easter it just says they're not taking calls or orders, so, how are you supposed to get something fresh and remade If you get something stale when you can't even reach the bakery because they decided to put a voicemail on saying they're not taking calls due to the holidays. Very disappointed in Weber's Bakery to think they can't even take calls to rectify a problem like I've had today with their bakery goods. I also posted on Facebook, hoping that they could reply to me, and I haven't heard anything from them either. Looks like we're going be stuck with stale Easter Egg little pound cakes that we won't even be able to eat, and we'll have to wait until they open next week, hoping they can rectify what happened with my order.
Hi Jessica & Rebecca, I wanted to let you know that I was able to try one of each the chocolate and the rainbow Easter egg pound cake they both were delicious. I'm glad we tried the chocolate one as we had never tried that one. Thank you again for offering me to be able to come and pick some more up this morning. I wanted to make sure they were okay before I put them out for Easter and they were delicious! Have a Happy...
Read moreWeber’s Bakery is one of those rare places that has truly earned its legendary status. For years, I’ve driven by, picked up their pastries through friends and family, and savored every bite but I had never actually stepped inside. That changed recently, and let me tell you: nothing prepares you for the beautiful chaos that awaits within.
From the moment you walk in, the aroma wraps around you like a warm hug, freshly baked dough, sweet vanilla glaze, powdered sugar, buttery croissants, and a hint of cinnamon all swirling together. The line was long (as expected), and yes, it felt like it moved at the pace of molasses. But there’s something about standing in that line, watching the trays come out, seeing the cases constantly restocked, and hearing the excited chatter around you, it builds anticipation in the best way possible. And once it’s your turn, pure bliss.
I couldn’t choose just one item, so I didn’t. I walked out with a box full of pastries, from classic donuts, apple fritters, and melt-in-your-mouth butter cookies to delicate custard-filled éclairs and almond danishes. Each one had its own personality: flaky, rich, creamy, chewy, or decadently sweet. There’s real craftsmanship in every bite, nothing feels mass-produced or rushed. It's like tasting tradition, love, and nostalgia all at once.
If you’ve never been inside Weber’s, do yourself a favor and go. Bring lots cash, bring patience, and bring a big box, because you’ll want one of everything. This isn't just a bakery; it's a Chicago institution, and every bite is a...
Read moreI've been going to webers since the 70s in the old building. Every family birthday cake has come from here. It's gone downhill in last couple of years. Choices have changed. Cakes seem to have gone down a notch. Quality of hoska and cin raisen dropped. Rolls went down. But the thing that went down the most is the service. Sure you have plenty of HS kids working there to help out but I miss the mixed crowd of ladies of all ages behind the counter. They made youre morning. Recently, I went going to another bakery nearby that i havent been to in 30 years because I couldn't get my Thanksgiving order in on time. Let me tell you that I was surprised at how good that other bakery was in comparison. Time to shake it up at webers.
2/4/24... editing my review. Just came back from webers. You wanted to know when there is a problem, well, here it is. Hoska stale. Has to be from at least Friday. The young girl who served me was not very polite(shorter, slightly heavier teen). She appeared as if she would rather be somewhere else and she left me with a surprise. When I got home and opened the box in front of the guests that we were entertaining, I realized that I was short on my order(carrot cake slices). Not sure if she charged me. Not concerned, but I did drop my service stars on this rating from 3 to 1. Sorry, but I'm...
