3.5 stars. I honestly was going to give it 5 stars as the meal, ambiance and service was really nice. However, i was left extremely disappointed and dissatisfied when the desert came out. I ordered the caramel baklava ice cream especially for the fact that it had shredded philo to it. Well, I was sorely disappointed when I received ice cream with caramel and walnuts. When I pointed out to my server (who was really nice guy btw) that the description in the menu and what I received was not the same. He first told me I ordered the wrong thing then when I showed him that I indeed ordered the right thing he informed me that since people weren’t a fan of the shredded philo that it was taken out. Well, I wish you would correct your menu appropriately then. And icing on the cake (pun intended) the server was not apologetic or offered to comp, give us a side of shredded philo or switch the dessert even after I straight up told him that I didn’t like it at all. Having worked in the food/service industry myself, I have little tolerance for issues such as those because if the restaurant is at fault, it should compensate in some way to the customer. On another note, we also ordered the zucchini chips, grilled artichokes, halloumi (FAVORITE DISH), half chicken and prawns and everything was really good. It truly was a bummer to end such a nice dinner with a literal bad taste...
Read moreThis is a nice place for a date. The interior is very attractive. The food is good. It's just nothing special. Their three spreads on pita are quite nice. The hummus is especially flavorful, which is saying something for hummus. Also had a beet salad. The beets appear to be boiled, which makes beets lose flavor, especially if the water isn't salted, which this didn't appear to be. It was served with greens, diced apples, on a bed of tzadiki. Then sprinkled with dried cherries. As a texture combination, it didn't make sense. As a flavor combination, it was weak. Souvlaki were variable. The shrimp version was excellent and grilled perfectly. The pork, was overcooked, but fine. The proteins were served on bits of pita, which were significantly overcooked and too dry. Each protein had a spread below it, that mapped onto the spreads used elsewhere. So the whole thing lacked a certain variability of flavor. Dolma we're quite nice. Could have used more dressing, but I enjoyed the dish. Gin and tonics were a little bitter. Not bad, but the Rosemary garnish, with which it was served, then struggled to come through. If you're looking for outstanding Greek food, you could find better places. If you want a good environment for a date, and food isn't your top priority, this is a...
Read moreWe’re in town for the holidays to spend time with family and friends. Lou is a friend of ours. We would see posts by Lou about Avli Taverna on social media and said, we have to check out Avli Taverna. Let me tell y’all, we were NOT disappointed! The food and desserts were absolutely delicious! We’ve been to other greek restaurants but Avli nails it! Their lamb chops (OMG!), Chicken, gyros, we’re tender and juicy. Once you take that first bite- you’ve gone to greek food heaven! Their French fries was da bomb! The desserts were delicious! All their plates are proportioned well and presented well! Did I tell you how delicious? Well, let me tell you again!!! It’s OMG delicious! Not only that, the staff were extremely accommodating and very attentive to our needs. 3 of us are profoundly deaf and we asked the stafff to look at us when speaking to us. They did. We were humbled when our server signed “Thank You” in American Sign Language (ASL). The service was just awesome! We even gave the staff a big hug when we left.
Thank you, Avli Taverna for wonderful service and the awesome (OMG) delicious food! We will definitely be back when we come...
