OH GOODNESS! It's true... they know me by name here. As a recent opener in the lincoln park / lakeview area, Beermiscuous offers a cafe style experience for beer. Their tagline, "Drink around", makes me giggle. I LOVE this craft beer trend and this place seems to stock everything you could want. They have a limited tap list of a dozen that rotates fairly often. You can do flights or tastings of each for just a couple of bucks. It's super reasonable to spend your night "drinking around". It's important to note that if you order a full size, you get your pour in the right kind of glassware. You can also chat beer with the super knowledgeable staff. Who doesn't love to chat about beer?! If you've tried everything on the tap list and still aren't satisfied you can "grocery shop" for a bottle or can of craft and pay to drink it there or pay the (much lesser price) to take it out to go. I like that you can buy the bottles and cans individually and don't have to commit to an entire 4-6-12 pack to try something new.
It's totally worth paying the "drink here" price if you've got the time. They have a BYOF [ bring your own FOOD ] policy and you should totally take advantage. There are lots of great spots in the area to order out from and I've seen that you can have deliveries made to your seat also. Pair that beer with something unique for a knockout experience.
Recently they've just started Tasting Tuesdays, Pairing Wednesdays, and "Open mic" Thursdays. Tasting Tuesdays are free tastes in the early evening. Pairing Wednesdays seem to be pairings of food with local restaurants / food trucks. Thursdays give homebrewers an opportunity to bring in their best and share for honest feedback from customers. Where does the awesome stop here? I don't think it...
Read moreThe Beermiscuous crew are incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about beer. But more than that, they are passionate about bringing a huge variety of beer to the people of Chicago. I have spent many evenings at this bar, enjoying fantastic beer, meeting with friends and family, chatting with the bartenders, etc. I don't even bother looking at the menu or in the cases because Austin knows what I like and always pours me something delicious.
Did you know that Beermiscuous is employee-owned? Did you know that Beermiscuous was purchased by the employees in March, 2020—aka THE WORST POSSIBLE TIME TO BUY A BAR? The Beermiscuous staff have spent the last year going above and beyond to keep their business open and keep serving customers. They developed and opened an online store. They figured out how to do contactless pick-ups. They partnered with a local delivery service. They got a sidewalk permit and set up a drinking area outside to allow at least a few customers to drink on-premise. And now, finally, they are open again to the public. They have been extremely fastidious about health safety through the entire year. The staff is currently fully vaccinated but still masks up, just in case.
Yes, it blows to have to wear a mask when you're at a bar. But them's the rules... and not Beermiscuous's rules either, but the city's. The Beermiscuous owners have bent over backward to get everything up and running again to service Chicagoans. I know I appreciate their level of fastidiousness and care with COVID rules; it's the same level of fastidiousness and care they bring to running their bar and serving beer! Beermiscuous cares about beer, cares about Chicago, and...
Read moreBeermiscuous is an excellent place for enjoying craft beer, discovering new beers, and stocking your home fridge with an impressive variety you cannot find anywhere else. (They'll sell any beer as a single can!)
They advertise as a craft beer cafe. The vibe inside delivers on that promise, with plenty of seating and space to spread out. During the last year, they've become our go-to spot for craft beer in Chicago.
They have an exceptionally knowledgeable staff that will go as far as to put a custom case of beer together based on your tastes and preferences. They also have demonstrated top-shelf public health measures throughout the pandemic, with curbside beer pickup and limiting bar occupancy as the pandemic has waxed and waned.
If you're ready to head out to a bar, mask up and enjoy a beer at Beermiscuous. If you're still drinking at home, give their curbside ordering a try. We're out of their delivery area but I saw delivery is an...
