The food here is amazing. There isnt anything on the menu that I have tried and didnt love. They had a "Pre St. Patricks day" event and one of the Managers made a homemade corned beef recipe. My recommendation is IF you ever see that on their menu. Attack it!! Because it was the best corned beef Ive ever had. It was a limited run for the event but man im still thinking about that sandwich to this day. I was just there this past Monday and Tuesday after work at Wrigley. The Italian beef was immaculate. They switched their bread to a philly cheesteak like roll and it was incredible. They make these frozen drinks that I cant help but indulge in anytime I stop in. Whether its summer or 30 degrees out. They are so dang delicious. (And can knock you on your butt at the same time.) The staff there really cares about their guests. I came in as a stranger once but left as a friend. They make me feel like I would be welcome in their homes. We hosted a dear friends going away party there and they closed off a section of the bar, catered to our very large group and made a lasting memory for us in a sad but exciting time for our friend Brian. The staff Jimmy, Dia, and Elliot are very kind and funny. Always attentive. Everything you could ask for in a local tavern to keep you coming back. No matter who is bartending when I walk in after work, I know Im leaving, having had the best time. I have been to every bar in the Wrigleyville area many times. But Billy Goat truly makes me know where Home is. As corny as it may sound. You just feel the love and good vibes no matter the time, early morning...
Read moreSolid. I didn't grow up in Chicago and never ate here before. Here are my impressions as an outsider.
The burger feels retro. Very simple. Old fashioned thin patties, ketchup, mustard, and a few toppings. Fries taste old fashioned too, just fried potatoes without double frying.
But overall pretty affordable, under $20 for a double, fries and soda. Fast food prices, but cleaner and better maintained inside and has a bar.
It wasn't clear from the menu if the original came with cheese or not. I just ordered the original double, and it did...
Read moreOne would think this is a Cubs bar. Yet on Friday, July 18th immediately after the Cubs game, with 5 people in the bar. The security door guy id checker, did not let us in for an unknown reason. As we approached to enter. He told us to wait just a minute and he went inside. Then he never came back. We were a bit miffed as to why and it was an odd encounter. We just wanted a cold beer and to vibe post Cub win. Should have went to Cubby Bear or Murphy's. Take note, folks and pass on the billy...
