I have lived in the Andersonville neighborhood for six years. I’ve never eaten at this place, but I thought I’d try it today. I usually give a new place some time to figure it out, but this place isn’t new. I’ll make this short and quick. The service was horrible. When we arrived we ordered a $3 bottomless cup of coffee and almost 30 minutes later it was brought to our table. In the time we waited for this bottomless cup of coffee to be served, we could have had three or 4 cups. But instead we only had one....not so bottomless. Also: $3???
After ordering our food, it was brought to the table and the pancakes that I had ordered were not fully cooked. The batter was running out of the middle of the pancake. The server took my plate back and came back to the table 5 minutes later to tell me they use cream in the batter therefore attempting to explain its consistency. The person who I was dining with, who is an avid chef, said she never heard of cream in pancake batter. Secondly, if this is the house recipe why would the server not tell me this right away. But instead took the plate back and then came back with some excuse as to why it wasn’t fully cooked. No. Sorry.
While I sat and watched my friend eat her breakfast, which she enjoyed, I waited for my food to be brought back. After a while I gave up and just asked for the check. The people sitting at the table nearby also sent their food back because they had bacon put into an omelette that they supposedly repeatedly asked for on the side. One then was a vegetarian.
As an Andersonville local, I will never ever recommend this place to anyone. If you’re going to have a breakfast place that competes with the many other amazing breakfast restaurants in the neighborhood, you better get it together. I will never return. This was your one shot to prove that you know what you are doing. And you don’t. Bad service, bad food. Never going back. Try taste of heaven or Lady Gregorys or even better bongo room. Stay away from this place.
Sidenote: they actually had the audacity to charge me for the piece of toast I ordered. The only thing they got right. Seriously?...
Read moreThis place used to be pretty great but it has gotten really spotty lately which is sad. My favorite item here is the chicken biscuit, but a few months ago they changed the delivery options so that you had to pick how you wanted your egg cooked. It doesn't come with an egg. But even if you don't click the "add extra egg" option, you literally cannot order the item without saying how you want your egg cooked, which again, does not even come on the chicken biscuit. At the time I called them and they told me to just order the item and select the egg cooking style but if I don't add the extra egg, it won't come with one and I won't be charged. I decided to order somewhere else instead to give them time to fix their errors so I could make sure to get the food I actually wanted.
Well, today, months later, I tried again. Sure enough, they clearly did not care enough to fix this issue even months later. They also disabled the "comments" section so I couldn't even provide instructions to leave off the extra item (that doesn't even come with the dish). I decided to trust the word of the employee and simply order the item, but sure enough, it arrived with an egg I didn't want AND I was charged extra for something I didn't want. I tried to call them to explain that their settings for delivery are wrong and that they charged me extra for food I didn't want without even giving me any other option. I called and asked to speak to the manager, and a woman said sure and then hung up on me. I didn't even explain why I was calling, I just asked for a manager and she hung up on me. I guess the manager gets enough complaints lately that they're tired of hearing them.
So to recap, they force you to pay extra for food you didn't want, disabled the ability to clarify your order preferences, and hang up on you when you call up to talk to them about it. Won't be ordering from...
Read moreI went here because I wanted to try somewhere new, and wanted brunch food. So I went in, and they told me to sit anywhere I'd like.
I ordered buttermilk pancakes. It took a long time for them to come, but I just assumed they were busy, so I thought not a big deal.
Finally, the chef comes out with a single burnt pancake, and says, "Sorry, I burnt your pancake, and am bringing the other one. Honesty is the best policy." I really appreciated his honesty, and ate the burnt pancake, because I was hungry. I noticed the pancake was not cooked thoroughly and the middle of the pancake was raw.
He then bought out two pancakes that looked better than the other one. However, the insides were still raw, and not cooked all the way. I asked the server why the pancakes were not thoroughly cooked, and she said that maybe the stove was not hot enough.
The server asked if I wanted her to send the pancakes back, but I said no! I had waited long enough, and was hungry!
I won't go back to this place. Most "diners" make great pancakes. This place is not a true diner. I've never had pancakes like that in my life. I don't recommend this place. The order of pancakes was the only item I tried from the menu, so maybe their other food is better? I'm not sure. But I will never find out. Because I won't return.
I'll add that the chef seemed like a nice guy, and I appreciated his honesty in admitting he burnt...
