Firebird Piri Piri Grill — Restaurant in Lake View Township

I happened upon this place yesterday and unfortunately didn't get pics of my chicken platter and sides last night, so brought a friend for lunch specials today. My new favorite place! Owner Moe and staff give SPECTACULAR over the top service with their charm and attentiveness and you can notice their popularity by all the local customer traffic. I highly recommend if you're looking for piri piri chicken and gyro outside of downtown Chicago at very affordable prices so I had to try it two days in a row. We ordered the dinner chicken leg/thigh platter with rice, paneer and veggie sides, the gyro and chicken tender lunch specials with fries or rice. Topped off with taro frappe smoothie and mango bubble tapioca pearl teas-this is a perfect place for quick bite or takeout. Moe aims to serve everything fresh to go that he was kind enough to comp me on my 1st order because he didn't want my smoothie being warm or my food being cold - even when he packed it- no one is as thoughtful as this guy! Had a taste for gyros-loaded fries and Firebird’s just blew me away. The serving was so large I could only eat 1/2 and put the other half in the fridge. Believe this: my review is based on the leftovers eaten not the next day, nor the next day, but on Day 4. Their (halal) gyros is so succulent, so scrumptious, with not a shred of dried meat (yes, still on Day 4!).

Their fries are freshly made to order and didn’t suffer a bit after my 4-day refrigeration. Ah, the cheese sauce. This is exactly what it always should be like. Freshly made with quality ingredients, the end result is a light, tasty cheese sauce. And it re-heated just fine into its original piping hot creamy self. Firebird always adds barbecue sauce to the dish so ask them to make without, if you don’t want it included. I’ve this item a few times now and it never fails to please.

The owner and his staff are all so nice and welcoming. The space is super clean making it a good dine-in experience. So what are you waiting for with all the high marks Firebird...

I am so happy to have found out about this place. It’s only a 20 minute walk from my house so when my husband and I saw the rave reviews and photos and had to come check it out for ourselves.

We initially tried to order online and had sone trouble but we called our order in and that process was quick and easy. Whoever took my order was so nice.

Wow! The portions were huge! We opted to dine in there and we got so much food for like $60. Leftovers for days lol

We got the 13 piece grilled peri peri medium wings AMAZING and came with fries which i didn’t realize. We also got the grilled chicken tender bowl with lemon pepper and it came with lettuce, rice and and sauce. It was sooo good. We also got the chicken tender spinach wrap with mild piri piri sauce. That also came with fries on top of the cassava fries we ordered LOL oops! Anyway, everything was soooo good. The chicken wings were extremely flavorful and fall off the bone tender. We will be going back...
