I came here for a nice birthday dinner with my boyfriend two nights ago. It’s my second time coming here. The first time was great, but this time fell short. The atmosphere and service were wonderful, but I wasn’t a fan of the things I ate AT ALL. The French baguette we ordered came with two kinds of butter, a garlicky butter that had a bitter taste to it and a purple butter that tasted like a vinegar spread (I cannot handle the taste or smell of vinegar that dominant). The calamari were kinda sad, two little tentacles and three slices (slivers?), with some things on top of them. It was disappointing. Then my main course was the worst. I had the Rohan Farm duck. The potato fondant pieces were flavorless, the little orange triangles on the edge of the plate weren’t seared like I now see in pictures, but just put on the plate. I didn’t know if it was dried pineapple, ginger or what until I picked it up. The orange sauce ruined my dish. In looking at a photo someone else posted, I see it really should have been more like a sauce. Mine was like a THICK, sticky, hardened candy coating. I had to pull apart every bite of the duck that I took. I thought they meant for it to be like this, so I didn’t send it back and felt like maybe I should have known how sugary it would be from the menu description. The duck tasted game-y and candied, so it was hard to eat, because it was gross. The “sauce” actually became hard candy as it cooled within minutes of coming out. The garnish was all stuck in the candy glaze which hardened around it. It was obvious even looking at the plate that it had been doused in this candy glaze that was too thick and too hard as it cooled. It might be the worst meal I’ve ever felt too ashamed to send back. If it had been my first time coming, I would never come back.
My bf got the steak frites which were good, but nothing special. The black garlic aioli is not as good as a regular garlic aioli...
Read moreIt's my birthday. We used to live near this place and have been a few times before and it used to be consistently good. USED TO BE!
It's adorable how the menu has my name on it. Kinda like a kids theme restaurant. I'm 54! The Moroccan chicken was bland and served with a TON of also bland Israeli couscous. We had to get salt and pepper. My sons iberco pork was pretty good and more what I'd expect from fine dining. We didn't complain and ate the food. Done with dinner on a birthday you would then expect a little dessert. Nope! The hostess slaps down two piece of pizza with onion and Canadian bacon. Baffled, I asked if it was for a different table. Had anyone asked about food allergies they'd know I'm lactose intolerant and do not eat cheese. Why would I want pizza after my fancy expensive bland meal anyway? Then they send someone else over to ask if we want to hear about the pizza, l ins it's special pizza. just wanted it gone. My son is yelling at me that I should be grateful for free stuff. He's 21 and doesn't understand that this just interrupted a decent mother son night out. He did try it and said it was gross btw. The kid eats a lot of pizza at college. They didn't do this to other tables. Were we targeted because a young person was at a restaurant that is typically older people who can afford to be there? I will never know. Eventually, they took away the smelly pizza and brought out a bland chocolate cake which my son ate with gusto. All in all the whole thing was a big disappointment in so many ways. We will absolutely never go back. It's too bad that nice places need to try stunts like this to survive. I get that part but why mess with me. Why would I want shitty pizza after dinner? It was full slices of pizza. The whole thing makes no sense. I'm angry and disgusted. Unfortunately, things have gone so far downhill that I have to suggest...
Read moreMy recent dining experience at Le Sud Mediterranean Kitchen left me with mixed feelings, as I had high hopes for this restaurant but unfortunately encountered several issues.
First and foremost, the service was disappointingly slow. It took a considerable amount of time just to receive the first appetizer, which consisted of a simple piece of bread and two flavored butters. Waiting for 45 minutes to get to this point was quite frustrating. And all this conidering that I was asked to place my entire order at once, with the explanation that the chef preferred to pace the courses accordingly. However, despite complying with this request, the timing of the meal was exceptionally poor.
To make matters worse, there was an instance where the staff cleared away appetizer plates, including food we hadn't finished, and then promptly served the main course. Shockingly, there was no silverware on the table at that point.
It's so disapointing because the restaurant does have a good ambiance and an inviting atmosphere. The potential for a fantastic dining experience is certainly there. However, the weak service I encountered was a letdown, especially given the initial anticipation and prices.
In summary, Le Sud Mediterranean Kitchen had the makings of a great restaurant with a charming atmosphere, but my visit was marred by slow service and issues with the quality of the food. On the bright side, the hostess / manager chcked on us few times, and she was very nice!
My recommendation to the management is to thoroughly assess their service and employees. It was evident during my visit that the individual serving us should not be working as a weiter, numerous issues with communication and service.
For fellow visitors, I would suggest arriving during non-peak hours. It appears that the quality of both food and service tends to decline when the...
