Some of the best Indian food I’ve ever had! Our whole experience at Dhanteraz was amazing as soon as we walked in. We felt very welcomed and comfortable with the friendly staff. The atmosphere is really fun and interesting, yet sophisticated enough for date night.
The herb rice is extraordinarily flavorful and a must order if you like your rice turned up a notch. The chicken chettinad was easily the best chettinad I’ve ever had. They curated a perfect spice level to meet my spice preferences (spicy) and I was left in awe with its complex flavor. My wife loved the butter chicken and was thoroughly impressed with how creamy and flavorful it was. We also ordered the garlic naan which exceeded all of our expectations. It was the perfect contrast of crispy bottom with airy/flavorful top. The naan paired excellently with our main entrees and is a must order. The mango Lassi was super refreshing and had us wishing we ordered another! Finally, the coconut milk cake rounded out our experience with a lovely, light, and refreshing sweet treat.
Dhanteraz will be our goto Indian restaurant for the foreseeable future. Chef Anaz has clearly spent an incredible amount of time curating an extensive menu that excels at delivering the most fresh, flavorful, Indian cuisine in Chicago. Highly recommend for...
Read moreWe were searching for an Indian fusion restaurant in Chicago and this place showed up 🔝 on top of the list. After dining here I realized why this place is rated so high.
Dhanteraz Indian Fusion location is right in the residential neighborhood where there are several boutique businesses. Street parking might be difficult to find on a busy day. Restaurant ambience is trendy and gives us the vibe of cozy hangout place for nearby residents.
The service was top notch and the waitress gave us suggestions about menu choices and prepared us well about the spice level. My favorite dishes are the Chili 🌶️ Paneer, Chili 🌶️ Gobi, Lamb 🐑 Rogan Ghosh, Pakoda. I felt the Chef 🧑🍳 has mastered these dish’s recipes and gave his signature touch. We also tried Chicken Tikka Masala Pasta 🍝, Chicken Chettinad, Veg Biryani, Malai Kofta, Garlic Naan, jackfruit ice cream 🍨, cake which were ok. Entrees portions are a little smaller when compared to other restaurants. I wish there were more fusion menu options and/or authentic Indian regional cuisine menu options.
Chef 🧑🍳 Abu took time to check on us and inquired about the food taste and service.
I would recommend this place to anyone who would like to try...
Read moreIndian food is not for everybody, you need to love taste and to know about ingredients… when you go to dine out to those type of restaurants…. Yes, you are looking for the good taste and experience. Reading the comments below, I don’t share opinions with people being cheap about prices .. the portions that this restaurant manage, are great, plus Indian food is heavy, talking about chicken… the chef use fresh chicken from a farm, you can feel the difference between chicken from “Mariano’s” and chicken from a farm who got a “good life” moist and soft. The makhani sauce, which people here call tomato soup, I think that comment is very disrespectful … because there is not comparación. Before to write a comment it’s better to know the process of the food you going to review, as to know the ingredients to judge. I love the execution of meal preparation in this place and the ingredients they use in the kitchen are well chosen. This is not an expensive place. If you want to pay cheap then go to Devon. Dhanteraz Indian fusion restaurant has amazing taste, delicious Indian dishes. Yummy and creamy and moderate levels of spicy for...
