Okay, I'm mad at myself for not finding this place sooner. I've always noticed the nice clean quaint storefront so I decided to give it a try as I felt like Boba.
Wow I am very very impressed. I got the red bean smoothie with the lychee boba and at $7 for a large, it quite a good deal. Good sized drink but most importantly, it's delicious. Like I will go out of my way for it good stop by at least once a week good. Taste fresh instead of mixed powdered, though it might be, but I couldn't tell. I also got potato corn dog. Which pretty much is closer to a mozzarella stick but....favorable trusting and good gooey chese inside. Another item that I was suprised how good it was.
The decor is pretty modern, clean in the front area and spacious. Can comment on the bathrooms as many of shared tho. Parking is street and can be a bit if a hassle but you can always find a spot. It's about 10 feet from the Argyle red line stop. So it's very accessible.
Service and staff our excellant. Their quick, which is excellent in it's own right, despite this place being quite busy. Yet the stuff was very accommodating heck unduly nice if you need them for anything. Seem to recognize regular customers and they seem to do a brisk business. The workers work very hard as they are quite busy. Apparently this is the 3rd location with the main one in Chinatown and another in wicker park.
They do have a buy 9 drinks get 10 free perk card so not bad for a loyalty program. This place deserves a visit. I highly recommend it. Maybe the tastiest Boba...
Read moreSummary: Extremely rude, never going back! Learn to talk to your potential customers. The person working there literally YELLED at us, “we are closed” before we even stepped inside the establishment. This was 45 minutes before the posted close time.
TLDR: Around 8:45 my friends and I were interested in getting a drink for the road back home. We’ve been interested in trying Uni Uni. Before walking in, we checked to see if there was a crowd of people and verified that they were still open by looking at the hours of operation, on Friday (today) they are suppose to close at 9:30pm, per their hours of operation sticker on the door. We understand that some establishments will close earlier than their advertised time, but there were two large groups of people laughing and having a blast with the person working there. As soon as we opened the second door, the person working there YELLED at us with a very forceful tone, “WE ARE CLOSED!”.
Advice to the establishment: Train your employees to use a calm tone of voice with customers when serving them or potentially serving them. If you’re closed, I suggest something along this line, “I’m sorry we are closed at this time and can not serve you, please come back tomorrow and we’ll love to share an amazing experience with you!”
My friends and I completely lost interest in trying Uni Uni, which is disappointing because we were all extremely...
Read moreLove this place! All the drinks that I've tried so far (ancient brown sugar, strawberry milk, signature milk tea, lovebirds/vietnamese coffee, pu'er milk mochi) are delicious. The popcorn chicken is good too. Can't speak on the fruit teas or ice cream though, but will try them on my next visit.
There's a large selection of flavors and unique toppings, so always excited to try something new each time I come back. Glad that you can modify drink sweetness and ice level, so feel free to find your sweet spot! I would say prices are fair: the same, if not a bit cheaper, than other boba shops.
Place is always clean, decor is lively and very cute. Appreciate that they commissioned local artists for the mural as well. When they first opened, loved how they included the history of Argyle. Feels like they're truly part of the community.
There are just so many good things I have to say about Uni Uni, and it has easily become one of my favorite places to grab a drink. Only thing I would change is offering lactose-free alternatives. Oat milk and almond milk would definitely ease my...
