A great place for breakfast! This is purely American food, served up with a smile and grace. The service is better, faster, and friendlier than you'll find at any fast food joint. And you'll waddle from the table very happy, and with a full belly.
The order seems to be made custom for each serving. I ordered a veggie omelet - hold the onions, and the waitress didn't winch. Drinks were served while we were looking over the menu. My wife's and my order were served simultaneously, and in about five minutes. The last time I visited McD's it cost me twice that amount of time.
The place could use an face-lift. Stark yellow walls, license plates and state memorabilia gives it a 1960's look that is just out of place in the 21st century. The menu is crowded with options, which although gratifying, can be overwhelming as well.
All this can be overlooked when the waitress serves you. My omelet was filled with chunks of veggies, instead of the usual pieces. The biscuit was freshly made, and very large. Just check out my pix!
So, why four stars? Breakfast places rarely warm the plates, but this would have kept my eggs; which are hard to keep warm anyway, better than room temperature at the last bite. Moreover, there is virtually no seasoning with any of this food. I added salt and pepper from the start. On the plus, my biscuit, which wasn't very warm when served, didn't suffer the ice cold butter that normally is served along side. Cozy puts their butter pats on the table and is served at room temperature; a welcome change.
My wife and I were in and out in about fifteen minutes. The crew worked together like family, or real close friends. They have a modern POS system that provides the waitress with a way to maintain a paperless order and billing system. She'll bring the handheld terminal to the table, and take your credit card there. No concerns that someone is duping your card.
This place is a keeper. I like places that haven't been homogenized like so many of the chain restaurants have been. The food was delicious, the service outstanding, and the price was right. Although I didn't find the decor cozy, I feel really cozy about the Cozy...
Read moreThis review is not about the staff or the food, both are excellent. This is regarding the owner. I have been going there once or twice a week for the past year. I have always seen a help wanted sign and felt I could help. I have over 30 years in the restaurant business and have cooked in places similar to this and up to fine dining restaurants. I have done all positions in “ front of the house” as well as “ back of the house “ including management and planning and opening new restaurants. I have a full time job (non restaurant) and just Sunday free, I thought it might be “fun” to get back into a kitchen and cook. It’s something I have always enjoyed but left for economic reasons. My plan was to help on Sundays and give someone a day off, I’m sure the staff is tired of being short handed. I left my number and asked for a call. When called I started to explain what I was thinking and was abruptly hung up on. A polite “sorry I’m only looking for full time” or at least listening to me and then saying no would have sufficed. Hanging up? Sorry not going to fly. What the caller does not understand is that besides being a frequent customer I’m also a heavy tipper. Because of the rudeness I experienced I’m not going to be coming back. This takes income out of the restaurants pocket and more importantly the wait staffs. Please understand I’m not knocking the staff or the food. I like to support local business but I feel they should...
Read moreWe were staying at an airbnb locally, so I was trying to find a good breakfast spot, and this one caught my eye, as it had one of the higher ratings. Since it was close by, it seemed like a good choice. When we entered, we were told we could pick our own table, so we picked one by a window. Jessica came to our table to bring us menus, and I liked her right away. She seemed very sweet and personable. My husband and I both ordered iced tea with lemon, and we settled in to look at our menus. They had quite a few good options. We both decided the Mexican omelette appealed the most to us. I ordered home fries with onions and the biscuit, which is homemade. My husband is doing the low-carb diet, so she allowed him to substitute cottage cheese for his potatoes and bread. The food came out lightning-fast and steaming hot. That impressed us, as did the portion sizes. We dug in, and the food tasted great, and they weren't skimpy with the omelette fillings like some places are. We were overall pretty impressed. My husband visited the bathroom, and it did need a cleaning, but that's pretty much the only downside. The prices here are reasonable as well. Don't hesitate to give them a try. We will be back the next time we're down! P.S.-we liked that there was a picture of Grady Judd on the wall. I wonder if that means this is one of his...
