Despite all the hype about this particular steakhouse and my experiences at dozens of other fine steakhouses across our state. I found this to be a mediocre steakhouse. The steak wasn't bad but it wasn't spectacular at all either. I've cooked better on my own grill at home... Lliterally! The char was poorly done and some had to send our stakes back. My boss had to send his back twice. He eats there all the time and hates doing that but for a $50 steak it better be right! If you're going to order make sure you get a filet mignon or a thick steak. Anything thinner than that is not going to be cooked rare enough. Over a third of my steak was pure fat and gristle. So it was only about half edible. This was the second time as I had already sent it back once. Now the cut quality was worse and was really over having to send it back again. Maybe I'd get a worse steak on the third time? I just dealt with it. I was at a company Christmas function which once again I would not recommend you rent that room out It's very small and cramped and extremely dark. It's so cramped that it's kind of difficult for the servers to attend to you and you're forced into a LIMITED MENU where you don't get to order what you want. You only get a few choices. Would never do it again. Appetizers however were very good. Be careful with the delicious shrimp appetizer, as it is covered in a thick sauce and It's so dark in that place, you may not realize the tail is still on the shrimp! Some people nearly choked on that. They might want to change that by warning people that the tails are still on them or just go ahead (considering how expensive this place is) and take the dang tails off in the first place! Another annoyance that all you get is a steak and everything else is a la carte, jacks up the expenses up real quick. If you're paying over $50 for a steak. $10 extra for asparagus I think is absolutely ridiculous. In the end this place was nice, I had always wanted to visit there, after experiencing it I can honestly say it is nothing to write home about. If it wasn't that their service and appetizers were so good I would have given less stars. Because the fact is this is supposed to be a STEAKHOUSE and at a steakhouse we have certain expectations. A simple one would be that the STEAK should obviously surpass or at least meet the quality of everything else that you've had there. IE: The appetizers, pork chops and chicken breasts should not be better than the STEAK at the STEAKhouse right? A bit of a romantic atmosphere though in other parts of the restaurant. If you're going to go for a date or something make sure you steer towards the filet, It's big plump and thick and it is hard to screw up a fillet at that thickness level anyway. A Good fortunous New Year and happy...
Read moreI wanted to take some time before writing this review to let my emotions settle, but my experience at this restaurant last night was unacceptable. I took my wife there to celebrate her birthday with our two kids, and it was supposed to be a special evening. Unfortunately, it turned into a disaster.
Our server, Jeff, provided some of the worst service I’ve ever encountered. From the start, he lacked attention to detail and showed no effort to make our dining experience enjoyable. We waited over an hour for our main entrees without anyone coming by to check on us—not even Jeff. When the food finally arrived, Jeff immediately said, "Go ahead and cut into your steaks now," as if rushing us after we’d already been waiting so long. It felt incredibly inconsiderate.
When we started to eat, we realized the steaks were cold. My wife had ordered a 21-day dry-aged steak, and I had a 22oz ribeye. Both were completely cold, which was shocking given how long we had waited. I flagged down the manager, whose name I believe was Mike or Mark, and explained the situation. He apologized and said he didn’t understand what had gone wrong. At that point, we just asked for the food to be boxed up so we could leave.
When we received the check, I noticed we were overcharged for several items. Despite pointing this out, they still ran my card with the incorrect charges. By then, we were so frustrated we decided to let it go and leave.
As we were walking back to our car, which was parked off Rose Street under the bridge, the manager ran after us, claiming he needed payment because they had removed the incorrect charges from the bill. We were completely shocked, thinking there had been an issue with the card, but it turns out there wasn’t. Frustrated, I drove back to the restaurant to finalize payment.
At this point, I spoke with the GM, who was incredibly apologetic and genuinely shocked by the way we had been treated. She offered to cover the cost of the steaks and invited us to return so they could make it right. While I appreciated her efforts, the entire experience left a bad taste in our mouths—literally and figuratively.
For a birthday celebration, this should have been a memorable and enjoyable evening. Instead, it was a one-out-of-ten experience, and I cannot recommend this establishment based on the service we received. Funny thing is my wife children and I laughed so hard and yes this was a memorable experiences but not for the reasons we have hope for, we definitely had to stop at the package store and grab something to drink as we needed a stiff drink after...
Read moreI recently had a terrible dining experience at Texas Cattle Company. We came to celebrate my father's 75th birthday. We had a large party which was immediately met with disrespect prior to even sitting down. The behavior of the management staff, specifically Ashley Devries and Andrew, was extremely unprofessional, disrespectful, and even threatening. They treated my family and I with racism and discrimination, using aggressive language and rushing us to accommodate another table who they stated wouldn't even be arriving for another 2 hours, so why show so much aggression and abuse to a large party that are already here to spend money at your establishment for a party of 6 that may/may Not even show up. We asked to be seated in the room with the cow mural because for over 15 years we have enjoyed dining there & we were simply wanting to enjoy our dinner with ample room to open our arms and use our utensils! They tried to cramp 19 people at 1 long table instead of spreading out the tables a bit but they were so focused on accommodating a white group of 6 that they completely disrespected the black group of 19 who would be spending more. Ashley even yelled at us and threatened to ask us to leave the restaurant. It was shocking to see how they treated other white families with respect and preferential treatment. The servers, Lauren and Maddy, provided excellent service they were impeccable but their efforts were overshadowed by the incompetence of the management staff. The managers never returned to apologize for their misunderstandings or mistakes and lack of professionalism. The "Managers" are supposed to resolve conflict not induce them. Accountability was needed and a simple apology with corrected tone would have sufficed. Not to mention the steak came out burnt for some and undercooked for others. I recommend that Texas Cattle Company invest in diversity and inclusion training to address the issues of racism and discrimination that occurred during my dining experience. Such training can help create a more inclusive and welcoming environment for all customers. Additionally, it is important for the establishment to address the behavior of Andrew and help him overcome any self-hatred or bias he may have towards his own ethnicity. This could involve providing resources and support for personal growth and...
