Pizza Odyssey — Restaurant in Lakeland

I had read a lot of good things about the pizza here and was eager to try it for the last month. We final had the opportunity this week and I was not impressed with the result. This location is take-out only. It is in a mini mart with only 2 small tables outside. The pizza was ok. I would like a better variety of toppings. The quality of the toppings seems good. Sauce was ok and the dough is a little thicker than I personally like but did have good flavor. The main reason I am writing this post is the service. We got pizza here on Friday night and had to wait an hour for our food. Shame on us for not doing research in advance and knowing we should have called an order in. We left and came back for the pizza once I received the text that it was ready. My BIG COMPLAINT is when we showed up to get our food they handed us only 2 boxes. We had ordered 2 pizzas and cheesy bread. One of our pizzas was missing. When we informed them of this they couldn’t find my pizza and gave me a pizza with someone else’s name on it that they claimed was mine. However, the pizza was missing the meatball I paid extra for and I mentioned that it didn’t appear to be mine because I couldn’t see the tomatoes or basil on it either. They claimed that it was underneath the cheese. They did heat up meatballs and piled it on top and I took it home. We waiting another 10-15 for this. Once I got home and started eating, I immediately knew it wasn’t my pizza. They basically gave me a cheese pizza with the meatball added on top. The tomatoes and basil were NOT under the cheese as claimed. I called them the next day to tell them the problem and a worker offered me a free topping next time I came in. I told him that wasn’t good enough that I knew that wasn’t my pizza and the made me take a pizza that I told them upfront didn’t look like mine. He said he couldn’t do anything else and he would have the owner call me back later that day to discuss with me. This was Saturday and it is now Wednesday and I am still waiting for my call. I didn’t give them 1 star because my husband did enjoy his correct pizza. I don’t think I will be back since they can’t even be bothered to return a phone call. I think the prices are high for pizza. Other places have similar pricing with similar quality and more variety of toppings. I would prefer to go there at this point. We spent over $50 for 2 pizzas and...

This is the WORST thing that's ever happened to me!

What a way to end the year... I find out there's a pizza place opening up right down the road from me, and I knew how this would end.

My wife left the house, leaving me all alone and vulnerable. In a blink of an eye, I caved faster than a house of cards in a windstorm. It took a whopping 12 seconds for me to dial up the pizza spot and whisper into the phone, "I need it."

Fifteen minutes later, I'm walking home in tears, cradling one of the most dangerously delicious meatball sandwiches my pitiful hands have ever grasped. This is a culinary catastrophe I'll never financially recover from.

The sandwich didn't even make it home. I devoured it like a man possessed, with the grace of a train wreck. In the distance, I hear sirens...

I'm now re-evaluating my life choices and contemplating my financial future. All thanks to Pizza Daddy.

Pizza kinks aside, the staff were refreshingly honest and cool. They're still finding their stride but if they ever introduce online ordering, I might as well sign my financial obituary.
