Herby's Kitchen — Restaurant in Lakeland

Our waitress was absolutely amazing, no issue with service, but we are here for the food. This place had amazing reviews so I picked this place and let me just say I am no longer allowed to pick where we eat. I got a single biscuits and gravy, the biscuits were over kneaded therefore very dense, I also found a raw onion in my food. I got one over easy egg which was perfectly cooked and a side of corned beef hash. The hash had semi cooked onions in it which I have never seen in corned beef hash before and hope I never will, it was gross. My friend got the waffle breakfast with bacon, scrambled eggs and home fries. The waffle had a black olive pressed into it and was soggy on the bottom, our waitress quickly got us another waffle. The eggs had cold and tepid spots throughout like they had been sitting in a warmer waiting to be scooped. The bacon was cold and the home fries were not crispy at all and looked like they were steamed and then quickly thrown on the grill. Stopped here for lunch today, first mistake. My wife ordered the meatloaf, with mash and collard greens, second mistake. The meatloaf was a mass of ground beef with very little thought other than maybe some onion and garlic powder, and slathered with some ketchup. The collards were so bland that the pepper sauce really offered no help. The mash and gravy was decent. I ordered fried pork chops with fried okra and yellow squash.Third mistake. The fried okra was good, the squash was average, but the pork chops... Should have been fried a little longer. There wasn't much color to the breading, the cuts were good but the seasoning was lacking and as a general rule, when you cut into a chop that is as they say, "fried to perfection" the breading shouldn;t be habging off the side like a wet bandage. Service was great, pricing was fair (if the food had been better anyway), and as an added bonus the dog really didn't seem to mind the rest of the meatloaf. She's also fond of eating lizards, so her tastes are subjective. Probably won't bother with...

My son and I tried this place out today and I’m so disappointed. The reviews were good and we try to support small restaurants instead of chain restaurants but we will not be back to this establishment. I ordered a simple breakfast sandwich and asked that cheese be added. The order came to me without cheese. My son ordered the waffles, which he said was very good. The place was not that full, but for some reason our waitress was not very attentive. We sat for about 10 to 15 minutes waiting for the check. There was another waitress right next to us, so I decided to ask her for the check (as I saw that she’d gotten the check for other tables that had been waiting as well). I said “excuse me” at least 3 times (she was standing close enough that I could touch her so I’m certain she could hear me) and she rolled her eyes and WALKED AWAY.
