You are a mad man if you don't like this place. It was my first time, and I couldn't decide what to get, and I was recommended the Creme Brulee souffle pancakes. I ordered that, a Capybara pudding with Brown Sugar boba (recommended to me, alongside sweetened condensed milk), and a taro milk tea. As I was waiting, I popped into the bathroom to wash my hands and was delighted by the clean and orderly bathroom. My pancakes came out and were eaten within 20 minutes, sweet with crispy sugar bits torched on, wonderfully jiggly pancakes and delicious fruit that you MUST have after every bite of pancake, the burst of freshness is too good to ignore the fruit. I didn't even realize I didn't get my drink until I was handing over the empty plate. The nice woman quickly got the mixup in order, and I was offered apology icecream for my wait. They offer a seasonal menu on icecream, so I got cherry blossom to try! I wasn't in a rush anyways, and bought my capybara pudding in my spare waiting time. Now, a thing about me is today my stomach was extra sensitive and usually boba has a way of twisting my stomach. There has only ever been one place (Shout out to Sip'n'Dip Donuts in St. Cloud, FL :P) before this that hasn't done this to me, and by the universe and above, I finally have another that is local to me!! This boba is the creamiest milk tea I've ever had, not overly sweet, and they don't pack it down with ice like some places do. The tapioca pearls themselves have a more handmade quality to them, too! They aren't like straight jelly balls or undercooked nibs; they're soft, misshapen lil blobs of happiness, don't diss the boba. I will definitely be back for that shaved ice and...
Read moreI have been hearing about the new Japanese bakery in Lakeland and been wanting to try it out, and it did not disappoint!
The main thing I wanted to try here was the fluffy Japanese pancakes. But a good heads up to know is they take about 20 minutes to make because they have to cook at a really low heat. So if you go there to have those make sure you’re not needing to be somewhere right after- we didn’t have time to wait so I will be back for those for sure.
They had so many options that sounded good but ended up trying a jelly pudding that was in the shape of a capybara. They have other animal puddings too like a duck and cat. It was so cute and tasted as delicious as it looked adorable.
The peach boba tea we had was great too. It was sweet and a little sour and packed with flavor. The tapioca pearls were cooked and soft like they should be.
I also loved the vibe in here. It’s crazy how different the inside looks from its last tenant that was Twisted Sugar, a cookie place. It’s so color and so much more inviting inside now, and a good amount of seating even for being a...
Read moreMy friend and I stopped by Kichi Taiyaki in Lakeland during our work break, and it was such a fun little treat! The place has a cute vibe—great for when you’re in the mood for something a bit different.
We tried the Tiramisu Soufflé Pancakes, and they were good! Soft, fluffy, and had a nice firmness to them. Not overly sweet, which I appreciated. I’m curious to try the Crème Brûlée flavor next time—maybe it’ll stand out even more.
We also went for the Any Three Taiyaki combo and chose red bean, custard, and pork floss hot dog. All three were tasty, but the custard and pork floss ones were my favorites. The custard was creamy and comforting, and the pork floss had a fun savory twist!
We also got the Matcha Green Tea Soft Serve. It was nice, but I would’ve liked a bit more matcha flavor, and the texture could be smoother. Still a good way to end the meal though.
Overall, Kichi Taiyaki is a cute spot to check out when you’re in the area. I wouldn’t call it a go-to hangout, but it’s definitely worth trying if you’re craving a fun dessert. I’d give it a...
