Ramen? At first I was skeptical of the location of this restaurant, because from a distance it’s not something I would consider stopping at unless I planned to. I’m usually busy when I’m passing by and never have the time to stop. The color scheme of the outside was dreadfully familiar to that of an older version of a well known fast food chain, with red and yellow. It was a little off putting, so once I pass it I don’t intend to think about it again. But this time, I did.
The greeting: Light music, instrumentals. A woman takes us to our seats immediately with our menu's. The menu gave plenty of info on what to expect. I decided to step out of my comfort zone on some of these items, but there was plenty to choose from and I was given plenty of time to review them. The lady was very friendly and gave us a discreet & welcoming service. The interior was clean and there was plenty of seating. Very simple and elegant interior decorations.
The food: The appetizers we went for were the steamed gyoza and the takoyaki. The Gyoza felt like I was eating them for the first time, yet I’ve tried them at several other restaurants. I loved these and almost considered just eating only these in mass quantities they were so good. The Takoyaki was a stretch as I never considered eating them or even knew they existed for that matter. But I gotta say, after eating just a few of them I knew these would be a favorite of mine. Don't let the octopus part scare you, this reminded me of eating hush puppies with a very savory sauce and meat. THE RAMEN, I ordered the tonkotsu pork ramen! First time ordering it and I never go for the pork ramen, I’m more of a chicken guy myself. The portions were perfect and I felt full after eating this. The flavor as expected was amazing and I’m considering trying the black garlic version after trying this one. I would also ask for more marinated egg as these just tasted perfect. I’d like to see more chicken styled bowls, but the ones they have would definitely suffice. This is your chance to experiment and ask for different ingredients or ask for recommendations! I also got a drink to-go, which they have a huge variety of yogurt, milk and punch type teas with boba or aloe!
But it’s not just RAMEN that they serve, they also have hibachi and other types of dishes you can try as well. Most of which come out in 10-15 minutes with appetizers coming out 5ish minutes after ordering. Although the place at the time was only serving about 2-6 tables and to-go orders.
Try them out! Definitely a sit down with friends or family kinda vibe. But I wouldn’t be opposed to stopping by on my way to work to get...
Read moreCame there tonight. Sort of expected a not authentic Ramen Restaurant. But I was blown out of my expectations. This place was an authentic Asian family owned restaurant! (I know a lot of people love authentic places so this is why I mention that) The place looks super clean, and the smell of the restaurant is enchanting. Getting seating was a quick turn around time, of course there was about 5 tables full so the time to be seated would naturally be quick, but it took 30 seconds to be seated so, it was great. Getting our food was amazingly quick! Especially for our appetizers and ramen. Took about 10-15 minutes to get all our food! The chicken ramen was HEAVENLY, I adored the broth and how much noodles they give you. The egg in the ramen was perfectly flavorful, it didn't just have the basic eggy flavor, but had an actual seasoned flavor that made it perfect. The takoyaki was a bit gooey, the texture is a bit like wet peanut butter, however it had a really amazing subtle flavor. The calamari was my favorite appetizer, I don't even l calamari but this one was DELICIOUS. It was a basic calamari, nothing fancy, but the flavor was absolutely amazing. The meat inside was not too chewy and gave good flavor. Definitely recommend this appetizer. The spring rolls were alright, definitely not my favorite appetizer but I definitely liked it! I wouldn't purchase this appetizer all the time but if I was craving something like a spring roll I would definitely like it. Customer service is amazing, the workers are very sweet and check on your table quite often to see how your liking the food. Truly I believe this restaurant was the best thing that came out of lakeland/bartow. And I definitely prefer this restaurant for Ramen than the other ones. Also the boba is definitely more authentic than most boba in lakeland/bartow. It tastes very different from the boba I've had from other local restaurants. And I definitely loved the boba more in this restaurant than the others. So, this restaurant is INSANELY recommended by me. Definitely give this lovely...
Read moreMy wife and I saw this new restaurant open, and decided to give it a try.
Once inside, there’s tables and booths, with oriental theme along the walls. Our server was quick and polite, we ordered drinks (along with the supplied ice water) and chicken on a stick for a appetizer. Quick again with our drinks.
A couple of minutes allowed, to peruse the 6 or so page menu, and our server took our order.
About 2 minutes later, our appetizer arrived, 4 sticks of glazed chicken, that was piping hot. Once I let it cool some, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it wasn’t overcooked, but instead very moist and tender.
My wife’s order of Orange Chicken, also included a small salad, with a ginger(?) dressing and a big bowl of Miso soup.
Both were very flavorful, muted at first, then coming in quickly, but not overly so, that it was too strong.
My steak fried rice came, while my wife enjoyed her salad and soup, and it too was hot…no warming lamp warmness here! The plate was plentiful, with small chunks of tender steak throughout, along with some finely cut vegetables. Rice and steak were both cooked perfectly.
Soon after my entree arrived, my wife’s Orange Chicken arrived, with fried rice and broccoli. Both fried rice and orange chicken was steaming hot, the broccoli however, was only lukewarm. Not sure why, as it’s bright green color indicated steamed.
By the time we started on our entrees, we were already starting to feel our stomachs filling, so we took the rest home to have later. Our total bill was $45, including tax. Appetizer was $9 and each entree was approximately $15.
Based on our experience here, I can easily recommend My Ramen Oriental Cuisine.
The staff was very attentive, without being obtrusive, and very respectful.
👍👍
P.S. the photo I included is after we said we couldn’t eat anymore. We are in our 60’s, so we don’t eat like teenagers anymore, but still no one should...
