Waffle House — Restaurant in Lakeland

We decided it was time to try one of the most iconic establishments in this side of the country. It was our first time, and we had no idea what to expect. It's a great old-fashioned diner experience with the back of the house in an assembly line structure, and working like a well-oiled machine. We were greeted warmly and seated right away. The menu is simple, which is fine, but I wasn't sure what I could find to eat. Cailyn, our server was great! Super friendly, and she explained there are actually more items they serve but weren't on the menu. Omelets, T-bone steak, etc... what?? Those things should definitely be included directly on the menu. I ordered a sausage omelet with everything else (veggies), which I guess is referred to lovingly as "all the way." It was delicious. BF got a waffle (of course) and a side of bacon and coffee. He said he was pleasantly surprised at how good the coffee was. Not bitter at all. That's high praise for him. He wished his waffle was cooked a little longer but said it tasted good. We were both very happy with our first Waffle House experience. Called my bff at 3 am and said I was hungry. I hadn't eaten much all day and not much an overnight eater. He is because of his work shift time schedule. He was off work during this time. He couldn't sleep neither could I. I suggested Perkins so google it to found out they no longer open 24 hours. Knew I was right on spot because we're always in competition on who has the better ideas. Well he won this time in which he mostly does. Yes I give him 1 point and an extra bonus point win for picking this Waffle House. The better idea place for breakfast. It was tucked in a cozy quiet corner. We couldn't eat inside because diner was closed. It was going to be a 20 to 30 minutes drive back so I suggested we eat in the parking lot. Wait staff were friendly. They were short out of lids so we went to nearby Exxon to pickup drinks. It was no problem but knew I would be the one to spill the lid less drink in the car. When we returned our food was ready. The food was good and piping hot. My first time eating here and the Texas bacon too. Yes try it's not same as Canadian bacon . I give it the thumbs up to say it was a good try. I like this place because I work here lol! Honestly, I have lived across our nation employed in a variety of fields as a waitress, business owner, cashier, nurse assistant, social worker, instructor, fire fighter and am able to confidently say that this location has a community of people who are genuine, friendly, fun, and make my job enjoyable. I sincerely enjoy serving most, yes the majority of all the customers who come here to eat. As far as the "House" itself, well...this particular location is only a year and a half old so it is an updated newer and cleaner restaurant; especially if I'm on shift here lol 😁!! We currently have well experienced cooks on staff who produce quality food and all of them take pride in the plates they send out to you.
