First the good - the waiter was friendly, happy, and attentive, the establishment was clean, and the food ingredients were fresh. Now the bad - the food was completely plain, no seasonings of any kind. No garlic. No chili powder. No cummin. In fact I don't even think salt or pepper was used! This was so strange!! I had a chicken tostada and my fiancee a chicken burrito and neither had any seasoning. No salsa and no enchiladas sauce either. The tostada consisted of a crisp corn tortilla, a minimal spoonful of plain refried beans, a small pile of fresh shaved iceberg lettuce, a couple slices of fresh tomato, and a couple plain soft onion pieces (boiled onion?). That was it. No cheese, no green pepper, no sauce, no seasoning of any kind. Even the onion was bland, and the chicken slightly tough and totaly flavorless. It was the same situation with the burrito except that my fiancee had asked to leave out the beans and provide added lettuce instead. Oh, she did at least receive a dollop of sourcream inside. We received a shallow basket of chips and an under-filled cup of Pico de Gallo while we waited. The Pico de Gallo was fresh but was simply tomato with the very slightest hint of chili pepper. And that was the only item of food that had any kind of Mexican piquancy. The reason we chose this place in an unknown community was, "you can't go wrong with mexican." Well we did! This was the strangest mexican food I've ever been served. There is no way I'd...
Read moreMy wife and I went here on a Sunday afternoon to grab a quick bite. Boy, were we misinformed about this place!
We sat down and weren't even acknowledged for almost ten minutes. We were eventually handed menus and a few minutes later, stale chips and a single cup green salsa.
After hearing what food they we're out of, We ordered a burrito and a few tacos thinking that a kitchen in a place that calls itself a "taqueria" could quickly serve us and we can be on our way.
20 minutes later, we are bored, cold, drinking our 4th glass of water, and just finishing our 2nd basket of stale chips. They gave us a small cup of pico de gallo.
Finally, we're given our food. The burrito was fine; nothing really really wrong with it, just nothing special. Certainly not worth the half an hour we waited since we sat down. The tacos were slightly better. The homemade tortillas were good but there was very little filling.
The kitchen was just incredibly slow and food quality lackluster (though not bad) for how long you wait and what you pay.
Sadly, there's a place in the gas station across the street that serves good tacos and burritos that doesn't require a 45 minute visit.
Next time,...
Read moreI ask for camarones a la diabla and I got raw shrimp covered in ketchup. I also ordered a sope with chicken which was one of those frozen tortillas so hard that my son couldn't cut it. Would not go back to this place again. What a waste of money. If I wasn't so hungry I would have ate nothing. My son and I ate some beans and rice, even that was barely passable. The rest went in the trash.
