I’m really upset about an experience I had here a few weekends ago. I came here pretty often because I used to live right next to this location. My close friends wanted to take my husband, myself, and our young son for an early mother’s day lunch. I was excited because I moved 5 hours away almost half a hear ago and we hadn’t been for a while. My son immediately started throwing a fit when we got inside, so even though it was a little windy we thought we could at least start off sitting outside until he calmed down. One of the staff members put up a sum umbrella— even though it was very windy. I didn’t think much of it. When we sat down the wind caught the umbrella and the very large metal bar it was attached to hit me right in the face badly. It almost hit my son but I was able to put my arm out before it could— and the other end that hit me in the face gave me a small black eye and fractured a small part of my cheekbone. I didn’t talk to a manager and I didn’t want to— because one of the waitress’ (that’s worked there for a very long time bc I remember her waiting for us before— we used to be regulars!!) came outside and immediately started yelling at us. Literally yelling. At me. She didn’t ask me if I was okay, and she was so evil and compassionless it caught me off guard. She immediately jumped to blaming us for wanting to sit outside while it was windy and continued to yell at us for ‘putting up an umbrella’ to begin with. WE DID NOT put up the umbrella!!! One of the staff members did. I couldn’t believe how she was reacting and I was also dealing with my face at the moment so we left immediately because I felt embarrassed. I have extreme social anxiety and I barely go anywhere because I have a 2 year old son. This was one of the few times I was going to have a meal outside my house in months and I was really excited about it. It completely ruined my day and I cried a lot on the car. I don’t want money and I don’t want to take legal action. I just hope this damn woman working here can treat her younger non elderly customers a little better. I will never come back here, and that sort of breaks my heart because I raised my small son coming here on their chicken fingers and hot sauce. It makes me more sad that these memories are...
Read moreA little over a year ago when my wife and I decided to check out Denver as a possible place to move to (from Florida), this just happened to be the first restaurant we ate at the first morning we were here. We immediately fell in love with the aesthetics; the old neon sign, the aluminum facade and the astroturf lawn/patio area. And hey looking to the west from the front patio isn't a bad view either.
First walking in, it's a little tight, but again, we love the aesthetic of it being a small diner. We got what we expected it to be. But off to the right is a more open space and overflow from the original structure. Since moving here, we have been back multiple times and have had the experience of sitting in both areas. In the original, smaller area, it can be a little noisy from time to time so if you want the less noisy experience sit in the overflow area to the right.
The food every time has been cooked well and is quality. My favorite is the American Benedict but I've also had the pleasure of the pancakes and the skillets and for my wife, the Belgian waffle and the hash, which she loves. On our last visit my step mom had the senior (they have a senior menu) grilled chicken salad and loved every last leaf.
The service has ALWAYS been good. We've always eaten there on a weekend morning so they have always been busy. However, the staff is always friendly and patient with any questions. They have always been attentive and are easy to flag down if we've needed something.
Overall we really enjoy our experience here each time. Are we easy to please? Eh, maybe. We're more of a "don't sweat the small stuff" kind of family. This is probably the reason we like this place so much, the simplicity of it. The foods cooked well and the staff is friendly. We also, like to bring our visitors (especially first timers) here because we love it so much and feel it really fits in with a...
Read more5 Stars to the manager who was great and listened to our issues and handled our issues with the utmost class. This was our first & unfortunately our last visit to Davie's Chuck Wagon Diner. We were headed to the car show and decided to stop for breakfast. I've passed here many times and always meant to stop and try it but never had the time. We were greeted with a smile and we chose to sit outside because the weather was perfect. That was our first mistake. We were the only customers outside, that I believe affected the service big time. Our waitress was sweet but harried and I think she had quite a few tables inside or something. We each got a cup of coffee and we would have loved a refill but we didn't see our waitress after that. My breakfast companion ordered 2 over hard eggs with hashbrowns and a pork chop (out of pork chops it happens) so sausage links instead. I ordered a cheese omelet (no Cheese in omelet only sprinkled on top) and french fries which arrived on the plate old and cold along with the cold sausage links and the over easy eggs which were ordered well done. Our waitress was MIA, we waited for the check so we could let the staff know why we really didn't eat much. I will say I was starving and did eat the "omelet" and we did drink the coffee which was very good by the way. The manager did come out and speak with us. She was very nice and she did the right thing for us. 5 Stars for the manager, 5 Stars for the atmosphere, 5 Stars for the 1 cup of great coffee. Service 1...
