I was passing through Denver on my way to Salt Lake City. I was excited to find a Germany eatery. Being from Switzerland originally, I am well acquainted with German food. Gaby is what I would describe as typical German, meaning she is very blunt, and to the point kind of a person. Not very personable at all (no interest in where I was from originally nor living now). I had to get used to that again. Haha. I really wanted the Schnitzel but was shocked to find it so expensive (especially for a run down place like that). I thought with a mushroom gravy and Spätzle, it would make it worth paying the $20. The Schnitzel did not disappoint. It was good. However, the Spätzle had not been salted while in the dough making stage, nor while boiling in water (which is the way to make it). It had absolutely no flavor. The mushroom gravy also was extremely bland. Usually a mushroom gravy gets deglazed with bouillon and not just water. I ended up needing to add so much salt to those two items just to make it eatable (still wasn’t great though). I was very disappointed overall since this meal cost me about twice as much as it would have cost me in SLC in the...

Have been very excited to try this place and was just met with an owner that clearly doesn’t want business. Both Google and their website stated they closed at 7:30. We arrived at 6:25 starving and ready to chow down on some schnitzel.

However, what we were met with was an owner who looked absolutely perplexed that we had just walked in. He quickly stated that they were closed. When I politely mentioned that their closing time is listed at 7:30, he said that they stop seating people at 6:45 and that if we had called, he would have told us that. I mentioned that it was only 6:27pm, and he just continued to seem annoyed by my inquiry and said they were closed without as much as an apology or any real explanation.

Had he been apologetic or explained that they closed up early for the night, I would have understood. Instead, he made it seem like it was OUR fault that we didn’t know that they’d be closed more than an hour prior to their listed closing time.

I’m incredibly disappointed and sad that they don’t seem to want business, as this place looks incredible. Guess we’ll have to find another spot to get our German fix. Any recommendations are...

Not like oma used to make. This place is odd, I couldn't figure it out. It was completely empty and yet I was asked if I made a reservation, and when I didn't it was as if I was now a burden. I was told I could still eat if I wanted but they prefer reservations. However, the couple who came in after me weren't given the same attitude for not making said reservation. So we ordered the rouladen, spatzle, and cabbage rolls. The rouladen looks as if they made a gravy out of water and mushrooms. ZERO flavor, no pickle in the meat, and as tough as an old boot. The cabbage rolls were equally as bland. The concept was the same but absolutely no seasoning what so ever. Staff was short and to the point, again as if my business was bothersome. I guess I didn't fit the standard customer profile to this establishment, sorry I forgot my man bun, doesn't mean I'm not a person deserving of some common dignity. I was more than polite and didn't show distaste in the lack luster food. All in all, don't waste your money, or bring your own seasonings in your wife's purse. And if your not a hipster be prepared to be treated like...

I ate here with my parents on 9/9/2023 and it was a very pleasant surprise. The food was amazing. It's rare to find authentic German and Austrian cuisine, and as I was lucky enough to live in Germany for 13 years, I've got a pretty good idea of hearty, quality food from those countries. The Schnitzel was divine, but even better, the mushroom sauce and potato salad that came with it were almost exactly the same recipes I used when I worked at a few restaurants over there. I couldn't stop from smiling with every bite I took! Please be aware, Gaby's is reservation only. There is very limited table space - that being said, it provides a MUCH quieter and ambient space for dining - a very lovely experience, for myself and my parents.

I wanted an authentic place with low sodium that reminded me of the real food in Austria and Germany. I loved every last bite. I wish there was slightly less butter in some of it, but every bit was delightful! I couldn't get enough of the potato salad with the schnitzel. My daughters had the knurdle and goulash. My mom loved her stroganoff. Goulash did have a little kick but the potatoes should help tone it down. It helps to know what you what you want and be decisive when ordering or placing the reservation. The inside was very warm and small but enjoyable. We'll definitely be back in the future.

The best schnitzel in town! Gaby is a warm and friendly person and her passion for food and friends is very apparent. She will definitely take care of you. The menu isn’t huge, but what is there is made with local ingredients and fresh. We had the schnitzel on a Sunday along with some spätzle, sauerkraut stew (amazing), blueberry soup (wow), and some cabbage rolls. Everything tasted great and we had such a good time. She also made us a special Christmas desert that wasn’t on the menu. It’s a good idea to call ahead a few days so she knows how much food she needs since she’s just getting started.
