I stopped at India Garden for the first time today. I was hungry, driving home to make some pasta, when I saw the lunch buffet signage. I'm not one to pass up a buffet, and I've only been in Lakewood a few months so I haven't checked everything out yet. I thought I'd give it a shot. Let me tell you, the food was delicious! By no means am I a connoisseur of Indian food. I've been to about 5 different places in the Cleveland area, a lunch buffet in Charleston, WV, and I had a housemate from India that cooked for everyone at Diwali. I really have to say, this is the best Indian food I've ever had! There were plenty of options to sample; I was able to try a little of almost everything. The tikka masala... I could have gotten a whole bowl of just that! The chickpea salad and hot and sour pickles (green mango w/ spices) were different and delicious. The tamarind chutney was sweet, and the mint chutney was refreshing and spicy! If you're worried about things being too hot, everything was about 1-2 spice level. I'm not the biggest fan of heat, but it was bearable for me! For reference, I love Pad Thai and get it at a 3, and usually give up halfway. If you like your food spicier, I'm sure Ram, the server, will be happy to accommodate you! Speaking of service, Ram and Joe were great. The restaurant is intimate, I liked the music, and it was nice and cool, not that it's been very hot lately. I know I caught them right at the end of service (I showed up around 2:00-- the place was cleared by the time I was done), but they didn't give it a second thought. Ram offered me some of his personally made "very spicy" mint chutney, but I politely declined, as I wasn't feeling *that* adventurous today. We had a nice chat, I met the cook (Mantram, I think?), and it was just a lovely experience! I gotta say, I think I made the best lunch decision I've ever made by stopping there! I was pleasantly surprised at everything!

Upon seeing the positive reviews, we decided to give this restaurant a try, only to be sorely disappointed. Our order included Chicken Biryani, Goat Biryani, Chicken Curry, a Platter for appetizers, and Taj beer. Unfortunately, the only highlight of the meal was the Taj beer, which, well, tasted like beer. The biryanis were a major letdown. They were not only soggy but also strangely sweet, a far cry from the authentic flavors one would expect. The quality of the rice was subpar, certainly not basmati as advertised. Additionally, the inclusion of raisins and tomatoes in the biryanis was perplexing and did nothing to enhance the dish's taste or authenticity. The lack of substantial meat in the biryanis further compounded our disappointment. The Chicken Curry resembled more of a tomato soup than a flavorful curry dish, lacking depth and complexity in its flavor profile. Overall, it was an underwhelming dining experience, easily one of the worst we've encountered. We certainly won't be returning, and we can't recommend this place, especially to those who appreciate authentic Indian cuisine. If you have a penchant for sweet and soggy biryanis, then perhaps this place might appeal to you, but for anyone seeking an authentic culinary experience, look elsewhere.

This restaurant is a disgrace for Indian food. Nothing tastes Indian. We ordered Chilly Paneer, Baby Corn Manchuria, chicken biryani and veg hakka noodles . Chilly Paneer : nothing chilly about it, full of vineger and tomato sauce. Excessive use of artificial color. Baby corn Manchuria: was made with the exact same sauce as chilly paneer (checkout the pics). Chicken Biryani: Served stale, when asked the Manager about it, he argued that they make fresh Biryani in MORNING ONLY, even if serving it for dinner. My mind hurts, thinking of how bad the chicken tasted. Although Manager was graceful enough for not charging us(pls find the reciept), and offered us to order anything, at no cost but we choose not to as we were disappointed. Hakka Noodles: My vegiterian wife and friend , did not liked it either. This place is definitely not for Indians, period. American may like it, who might have less knowledge of Indian taste. Great Indian restaurant offering traditional style cuisine. There are 2 India Gardens in Lakewood and they are sister properties. This one is southern style Indian fare and the other is northern. There is a good selection of vegetarian options. The food here is great and comes out quite fast. As this is traditional Indian, it can get spicy. Thankfully you're allowed to choose your spice level for your dish on a 1-10 scale. 10 being the hottest. I cannot recall the the name of my dish but it was chicken curry over basmati rice with a hard boiled egg. Delicious. Service was fantastic. Informative, prompt, and courteous. It is a relatively small place so expect a cozier dining experience. If you like Indian it's a must go.

We got takeout from India Garden tonight. It's one of my favorite restaurants in Cleveland, and they have a huge menu so I always make a point of trying a new dish. I've had 5-6 dishes so far and I've been blown away by all of them — every dish has its own unique character and depth. Tonight I got chicken tikka masala, a classic meal that did not disappoint. My fiance ordered the mixed veggie jalfreezi and we shared some garlic naan (of course) and samosas (which came with mint chutney & tamarind chutney... I was eating the rice with just these sauces at the end). We've eaten at the restaurant itself before and I've always been impressed by the staff's kindness and expediency. I cannot recommend India Garden enough!

My first visit to India Garden was definitely a great one. I saw this place on a recent visit to Lakewood. I saw India Garden with a sign advertising a 7 day a week lunch buffet. On our visit, Sonny greeted us and introduced us to the lunch buffet, which costs $14.95 a person and features some old favorites like Tika Chicken Marsala, Tandori Chicken, and Butter Chicken. I also enjoyed the Eggplant Marsala, hot fresh garlic nann, and the Kheer Rice Pudding. If you are a fan of Indian I would definitely recommend India Garden.
