Absolutely lovely people with a great story and a nice vibe. The restaurant was small but cozy with only a few tables. We spoke to them a bit about how they got started and placed our orders. We both ordered a taco plate and their version of elote. We had a lovely conversation with them as we waited. Then our food arrived, corn first. Usually elote is a comfort food, and theirs was okay - nothing super fabulous. They replace the traditional tajin style seasoning for flaming hot Cheetos which is interesting, but it didn't taste as good. Our tacos arrived and they were good, but again, just average. Not anything better or worse than most of the other taco places around. They do make their own tortillas in house, so that's a major plus. They're asada was probably our favorite because of the house sauces they put on it, however the carnitas were super soggy and wet. They just dissolved the good tortillas. The adobo they use for their al pastor - which is my favorite - was just overloaded with salt. They weren't bad though. They were just average, so I can honestly say I'd get the asada tacos again were I in the area, but I wouldn't go out of the way to go back specifically for them. The rice and beans however were just bland and bad. Overall it's a very average taco place - though a bit expensive, with fantastic people. I would recommend going and meeting them, seeing the restaurant, and ordering a few...
Read moreI bought dinner for a group of 7 of us who were working after hours at a nearby hospital.
I had placed the order online around 5:30pm for subsequent pick-up at 6:20.
I guess their ordering system had been down - although I can tell you, Square site had no difficulty taking my money for the order, and gave no hint that the order hadn't gone through to the restaurant - so they said they were working on my order when I arrived on time to pick up the food. I didn't have the food in hand until 6:50.
I was offered no discount nor comps for the incredible inconvenience. Had I not been there to get food for others, I definitely would have walked out and canceled the order rather than sit there waiting for a half-hour.
The food was of varying degrees of warmth/ freshness, as it had been worked on over a period of not less than 30 minutes. The meat on my carnitas loaded nachos was pretty dried-out, like it was old/ left over.
Everybody else enjoyed their food. They're boys. They're less picky. 🤷🏻♀️
By far the biggest hit was the queso and chips appetizer, which a bunch of us shared. The queso is housemade, and it is spectacular.
I'd give the place another shot, just because the queso is that good. But if I were placing a reasonably large order online again, I'd call the restaurant to make sure...
Read moreDiscovered this place on a drive by, pretty hidden but glad we had seen it. The person at the counter, where you order before seating, was very personable and not pushy. Had a good interaction with her. I ordered the California burrito with Al pastor and a horchata. My husband ordered the taco plate (3) with the melon drink. Best horchata that we've had in a long while and you get a large amount! Much better than bobba. And after seating we noticed they have gourmet flavored horchata! Will definitely be back to try those. The melon drink was also good but probably wouldn't order again. The food: the tacos were good! Hubby tried the chicken, pork, and shrimp. I normally don't get seafood at Mexican places, that's just me, but the shrimp was amazing. The rice, that came with the side, could have been seasoned better but still good. Now the burrito, my only gripe about this place. The innards were all good but how they filled it had me questioning. They cut the burrito in half, like most places do when serving a large burrito, but noticed that all the meat was on just one side of the burrito.... Why?..... Lol. I only ate half and took the other home for lunch for the next day. I'm eating it now and can confirm.... NO MEAT... Other than that, I would definitely come back, just won't be getting a...
