We were so thrilled to find this place! We are in this area two to four times a month and one of the restaurants we go to now closes at 3pm, so my husband found this spot which is a Lakewood landmark. Their website is one of the best I've seen for a restaurant with history, basic info, full menu, and GREAT photos. We loved the whole vibe! The outside of the building was fun and there is a ton of parking (it shares it with a couple other businesses). The bonus room in the back holds about 50+ for events, and there is a separate bar area with lounge seating and pull tabs. In the main section you can choose booths or counter service. The workers were not only friendly to us, and very attentive, but we could hear them just enjoying working with each other behind the counter ❤️ My husband and son don't really appreciate "complex foods" so their menu with more traditional choices, that were made very well, was perfect! It had lots of yummy items that made us plan what we were getting that day, but also the next few times we come back. I don't normally drink, but if I do, I like a Bloody Mary. I just got the one, but I saw that you could get a whole carafe of mimosas or Bloody Mary's 😮 It tasted good (strong!) with lots of salt on the rim and, again, just simple green olives. My husband was excited that their coffee is from Delanons, and the milkshake the kid got was perfect- not too thick or too thin. I loved my Monte Crisco, though I wish it had a little powdered sugar on the top and instead of mini plastic containers, a small bowl of jam to dip in would be better. I had options for a couple sides, and I picked potato salad, which I weirdly always crave, and it hit the spot! The grandbaby choose grilled cheese with perfectly crisp fries, while his uncle and grandpa opted for breakfast for dinner. Their hash browns were so good, that I was sneaking a couple bites! Can't wait to come back again. I'm looking forward to the French Dip, biscuits and gravy, BLT, fish n chips ... basically the full menu 😆

Had an absolutely horrible breakfast experience here this morning. First off, i ordered a club soda and was brought a tonic water instead. We told the waitress that she made a mistake and said all they had is tonic water, which didn't make any sense at all. My wife walked to the bar and got a club soda for me and brought it back to the table. We should have known to pick up and leave at that point, but we have been to Bur's many times before and I have never had a bad experience here. My wife ordered sausage eggs over medium with toast. She got runny eggs, barely cooked eggs, in fact with runny white egg whites and runny absolutely uncooked centers. It was really nasty. We placed the eggs on a plate and set them on the end of the table to get the waitress's attention and all we got was ignored. The waitress never came back until she brought us the bill, although she walked by us about ten thousand times and did nothing but ignore us. My breakfast was equally bad. This place has really gone down hill. Stay away. I'm actually really surprised at how lousy both the service and the food was. It was over $50 for this fiasco, and we still tipped the waitress 20%. The waitress did take one of the coffees off of the bill at the end after my wife complained about the runny eggs, but it would have been nice if that didn't get resolved until right before we left. If you don't want to read all of this just read this...*****STAY THE HELL AWAY!*****

My wife and I just moved into the lakewood area and heard that Burs Restaurant and Lounge was a good place to eat. When we walked in, it was truly like going back in time, with classic countertop eating and swiveling chairs to complete it. All the seating was lined low back booths as well. We decided to have a mid day breakfast, and It was definitely a great decision!. I ordered simple biscuits and gravy with hash browns, and my wife ordered the country pancakes with one (1) egg and two (2) sausage links. Now my wife and I will taste each others food to see if it's going to be a place that we'll end up going to on a regular basis, and I definitely have to say that it's going to be a regular spot to relax and enjoy a very good meal. The pancakes 🥞 didn't have a dry flour taste to them like some other places. They were lite but firm and had a taste of vanilla. The egg was a perfect over medium ( and my wife is extremely critical about their), and the sausage weren't full of fat, were actually firm skinned, and smoked sausage links!. The biscuits and gravy were a actual very enjoyable, biscuit was a single split buttermilk with a classic country gravy and the hash browns weren't over cooked either. We will definitely return to eat... Side Note: This restaurant has been open for more than 80 years, so you know it's good. Oh yeah, one more thing, check out their cinnamon rolls

Good old classic diner. Other people like it, I don't. I've lived nearby and been there once in 11 years (tried this local favorite when I first moved). At that time I noticed there was a lack of fresh ingredients on any menu items. It seemed as if they maybe did not have a produce vendor contract. I've avoided it ever since. Well, today, 11 years later we tried it again. The interior wasn't changed but the menu does have some items that include fresh ingredients, even fruit! There is one obnoxious loud server who complained loudly about her customers after they left and completely ignored our (her assigned) table. Another server finally checked in on us and served us pleasantly and skillfully. The food was mediocre. Forgettable. I did make it a point to order an item that included fresh produce. I can't remember the last time I could tell my food was cooked in margarine and my toast was buttered with it. Margarine? People still eat that?? They do seem to have a very large variety of desserts and THAT is something Lakewood lacks. Maybe we'll be back for pie sometime if we can make it before their very early closing time.

We went here for the first time today for breakfast and it was good so decided to return and try it for dinner. What a difference between breakfast and dinner. If I was rating this just on breakfast it would have been 5 stars. Our server, Mandy, for breakfast was excellent, checking on us multiple times despite being busy. My husband had the biscuits and gravy breakfast with a side of bacon. It was so good he finished his whole plate which also came with hash browns. I had the California scramble which came with a big helping of hash browns. I couldn't finish my breakfast the helping was so big. At dinner our server, Allaya, never checked on us, we had trouble getting her attention if we needed something, she only gets 1 star. If she trained with Mandy it could be helpful for her. At dinner I had ice tea which tasted like water. I had the special shrimp scampi which could have used more flavor. It was served with burnt (black) garlic bread. I asked for it to be replaced. Should have never been served that way. There was no garlic flavor to the bread. My husband had liver and onions, he enjoyed his dinner.
