Good tacos. Absolutely terrible service. I was told my drinks would come out with the meal, they did not, and I had to go up to the bar to ask for my drinks once my food already arrived. I was told "oh she's making it now," only for the person I was told was making my drinks to come over and ask what I wanted. When I told her I need my margarita, she just brought over a plain glass filled with machine pour. When I asked, "where's the salt on the rim," she instead just brought me another margarita (for some reason). When I kept standing there, only wanting salt, she told me, "there's salt on the rim," and this [pic attached] is the "salt" that was on my rim. I had to wait even longer just to ask for salt packets since what I ordered "salt on the rim" was too complicated.
You might think "oh, this was posted on cinco de mayo! They were probably just busy!" Nope, most of the restaurant was completely empty with only 4 people at a bar that seats 15 or more. They aren't mixing anything, it comes out of a machine that simply dispenses it; nothing more, nothing special, and certainly not time consuming.
I went next door to El Tapatio's for cheaper food (more + better than 2 of my tacos), better service, and better drinks. For the price they're charging (8 dollars for a small drink + 6 dollar tacos) the service is abysmal. There's no reason to spend your money on anything here than tacos and then leaving immediately for a place with better service for such a price point.
I'll eat here, the tacos were good, but again, there's absolutely no reason to spend any extra time here or deal with the bar or anything else they have to offer. Eat the tacos, and go spend the rest of your money...
Read moreI do not imagine I will go back to a Torchy’s for a long time. The food was way too expensive, the worker lied about the portions sizes of the tacos, and we had to wait for someone to take our order. When we got there, someone was waiting in line before us and he was clearly waiting for a worker to get to the front to take his order. When it was finally our turn to order, I expressed how appalled I was at the price. Not the workers fault of course. But then she said that the tacos were large after I inquired about the size. I would learn upon receiving my cold tacos that this was not true. When she took our order, she gave me a buzzer and I waited inside for 15 minutes. I figured they were freshly making our food, so I knew it might be a while. I went outside to be with my boyfriend and his new puppy and waited out there, expecting the buzzer to go off any second. Another 20 minutes pass by and still nothing. At this point, I was about to ask for a refund. I went inside to ask where my food was, and another employee joked to me “Ah, your foods been waiting here for you!” I was appalled. The buzzer didn’t go off and our food was left there at the front for who knows how long. Why did no one bring our food? I opened the tacos when we got home and I was annoyed to see that these were very average sized $7.00 tacos. All of our food was cold and we completely wasted our money and time. There was no dinner rush, there was no one there except for us and two other families. The employees did not seem busy and I was so confused why one of the five employees standing by my cold tacos couldn’t...
Read moreThe food quality was not great although the amount of filling was good. However, two of our orders arrived incorrect. We ordered the green chile queso dip and were given guacamole and my order (tipsy chick) arrived with flour tortillas when I ordered corn. I didn't address the guacamole mistake because I was more focused on the tortilla issue due to going gluten-free, but the waitress was quick to have the kitchen correct the mistake. The turn around on the correction was almost instant which lead me to believe nothing is being prepared fresh, which also explained why the chicken in my order was practically cold. Definitely not worth the ~$50 we spent on four tacos, queso dip (but was given guacamole) and two side orders of beans and rice. Although, their beans and rice were good, but it was the only thing that came out hot from the kitchen. Save your money!
Separate from the blurb above, I would also like to add that the staff doesn't seem to know how to keep busy. For the duration of our meal there was a young woman behind the bar chatting with her colleague quiet loudly about her friend's personal problems. While I'm all for a little gossip now and then, she didn't seem to know how audible she was in such an empty...
