First, let me say what was good. Great location. Close to many restaurants and right across from a Target for all of your needs if you forget anything.
I, also want to be clear, in regards to the hotel staff I would give 10 stars if it would let me. However, there were quite a few glitches with my hotel stay that made me have to knock down the total stars.
First, let me get to the real reason I put only 3 stars. As someone who has traveled a little bit for work, I just know that some hotels are built better than others. This is not a quiet hotel. You can hear street noise and you can here the slamming of your neighbors doors as they enter and exit their rooms. For me, the quietness of the hotel is probably the most important aspect of my stay. A really well built hotel is just so quiet in your room even if you are in a busier area of town and even when your neighbors in other rooms come and go. I definitely wouldn't recommend it for a light sleeper (which I am).
Ok, now on to the glitches. First, for the first night, I did not receive the hotel room type I booked. I can empathize with the staff because it is my understanding this was due to a change in software that was causing them lots of issues. I've been there. The young woman at the front desk did everything she could to try to find me a different room. 10 stars staff.
This may not have been a huge deal except that I specifically booked a kitchenette so I could bring my own food due to dietary restrictions. I had actually placed an order for groceries to pick up before I arrived. I was there, starting a new school program and I was already stressed, so this was not a good start to things. I knew I should be fine during school hours because I had already talked to the school about my restrictions and they would be providing food during the day, but this was very stressful to arrive to.
It is true I had booked in a block of rooms that were reserved by the school at a special rate. There was an email communication with customer service where they said the room types for the block were interchangeable. But no where did it indicate that the types of rooms were interchangeable when I made my reservation. My reservation said I would have a suite with a kitchenette.
I think most people know the little fridges in the normal rooms really do not keep the temperature to a safe level for food storage. The staff did kindly offer to hold my food in a fridge downstairs. It was not ideal, but it worked. Again 10 stars staff.
Fortunately, I was able to talk to a manager who was able to navigate the computer system and find me a kitchenette room on my second night. Again, not ideal to have to switch, a bit of an inconvenience, but I was thankful. This is again why I would give the staff 10 stars. It really wasn't their fault, software change issues are out of our control and I have first hand experience with this. They did everything they possibly could to rectify the situation.
So all in all, great staff, just unfortunate hiccups with logistics.
However, this is not an inexpensive hotel and so I would expect it to be quieter than it was. I've also seen other reviews mention that the hotel needs updating and I would agree. However, I also realize I may be spoiled by the few times I've travelled for work. Maybe my expectations are above those of others? Yet I have to stay, I've actually stayed in a Hyatt House for work before that didn't have the noise issues and rooms needing updating. And again, like I said, Hyatt is not an inexpensive line in general and I would expect more from the rooms themselves.
I guess to sum it up, I want to be generous and kind to the staff because, to the best of their ability, they were so kind and accommodating amidst the adverse circumstances they were experiencing (and I was happy to find there were things I could eat at the free breakfast), yet at the same time, I expect more from Hyatt based on past experiences.
That being said, will I stay here again? Maybe. But it would only be due to the convenience of...
Read moreDo not stay here. There is a front desk manager who treats people horribly — I arrived after walking 45 minutes on foot — my purse was stolen and I don’t live in Denver. I have my Amex # memorized, and asked to please give me a room (I also have an account with Hyatt - I do work travel often and have stayed at Hyatt many times). Instead of helping me (front desk manager has glasses, dark hair, heavier) - she told me I was lying. She was the opposite of helpful or sympathetic- she humiliated me over and over. After telling her my situation, she told me I was lying. I asked her what she needed to have my room booked, and with my husband living an hour and a half north, she told me to have him email them my ID (after an argumentative battle on her part, shaming me and saying “don’t you know ANYONE?”). I DO - but my stuff was stolen and I had an awful day. My wallet / purse were stolen, I kept repeating - I don’t have ID. She kept asking me in such a condescending way that I started to cry. My husband then emailed her a picture of my passport and booked a room for me. She told me I needed to do this in order to get a room. After receiving all this + the booking, paid for, she told me I was a liar and I was a credit card fraudster. She told me I had to file a police report to prove my purse was stolen. I then stood at the front desk, on her land line, filing a police report that took twenty minutes. At this point, I was losing it. I did everything she told me I should do. She then talked down to me AGAIN - telling me I was probably lying, and to wait “over there”. Putting me through ALL OF THIS, the humiliation, the condescension, the complete and utter disrespect — and after putting me through the ringer, all of this, she came out from the back office and said “my GM said you can’t stay here”. I did EVERYTHING a person could do, who had had her purse stolen. No money, no phone. I work for Google and I travel for work frequently. I will NEVER stay at a Hyatt affiliate, EVER again. This sadistic mess of a front desk “manager” should be fired immediately. I have never had an encounter like this with a person, much less someone who is supposedly there to provide customer service and be professional. I’m beyond humiliated and am considering filing a BBB complaint or possible lawsuit. This person should NEVER work with people - she could have handled this situation 100 other and...
Read moreVery bad experience tonight at 8:pm. I was dropped off at the handicap accessible doors. I pushed the automatic door button, which only one door opened. Not allowing me to get into the building, so I can get into my room. I knocked on the door for help. At this time I'm out of breath due to having only one lung, and being a burn survivor all I could do is sit on the ground between both doors. I kept asking if she can help me open the door. I'm not able to. Security showed up I explained what happen tring to catch my breath, and talk at the same time. I was never given a map that shows there's another door on the opposite side of building. Security said to "me there's another door you didn't know this. I was getting frustrated I'm disabled why would I use another door. After I made it to the other door security was there waiting on me with more questions still. So we walked inside then I was told" That I'm being kicked out of the building. I started recording after I started recording they then told me " I was not allowed in my room to get my belongings. I asked how am I'm able to get my things. Then they said "Thier waiting on the police to arrive" I been sitting on the ground the entire time, while I'm recording the remarks coming from just one of security person. I said to him while he walk away. "That wasn't necessary." When the police arrived, Oh that was the best thing that was done. So after explaining my side of what all happened. Officer told me that the lady was terrified, and that I threaten her... The officer's were very polite walked with me so I could get my belongings. While me, and the officer's were talking about college football letting him know I'm from Gainesville I'm a Gator fan. So I asked the officer That I liked to get a police report. In order to have my name on the report explaining what all occured. That was never done due to them getting other calls. He said you be out of here in about 10 minutes. I said less then that. Before they walked out of the room. I mentioned is there any way that you let the front desk know to fill out a complain form explaining what all occured in her words. There's her side my side, and then the Lord's side. So I left. I had to explain this while it's fresh on my mind. I was trying my best to pack, and now realized that I left some items in the room. I don't want to engage conversation with them after...
