We selected this stop as we were driving through town based on the photos of the space and selection on the menu.
Don’t be fooled - it you’re ordering food, you should reconsider. We ordered the avocado toast and two bagel sandwiches.
Both sandwiches were made with seemingly frozen premade egg patties and microwaved store bought bagels. It would be easier and healthier to just offer a fried egg on top.
The avocado toast was made with fake avocado purée, that was also off tasting and didn’t at all resemble avocado other than that it was green-ish.
Please, with an H‑E‑B down the street, you should try using real, fresh ingredients and see the difference it makes. Would probably end up saving your business money too!
Sorry to say we’ll opt the Starbucks next time we’re driving through.
Note: the owner just replied and mentioned a lot about the coffee and homemade jams (we didn’t have those) - so that’s great… but the “avocado spread”, premade round squishy eggs really weren’t great and could use improvement.
I am a big fan of small businesses but people spend a lot on meals and it needed improvement. I didn’t speak to a manager because our meal was to go as we went through town up to DFW.
Hope the owner considers asking customers for real, honest input on what improvements the food needs so this small business...
Read moreOh my gosh... AGAIN! My friend Claire brought me here- she knows the owner, and that day I was hooked from first sip. I keep forgetting to post a review for Alamo in Lampasas so here goes: Anyone not coming here is missing out BIGTIME, and not just because Starbucks takes money out of our community and serves toxic coffee in harmful containers. Because it's sooo yummy! I also have tried the other coffee shops in town, and although the people are friendly, the coffee just isn't the same. In fact, I drove through a thunderstorm to get here, because it's that good and today was my day to treat myself. First, the bourbon bacon jam bagel.... it's out of this world. The bagel was fresh and chewy, egg was perfect, and the jam takes it over the edge. I also had a honey butter croissant, vanilla latte, and took a vanilla tea to go. My only problem with Alamo is that when I go, I want one of everything! My friend from Austin came with me and was over the moon about her coffee and food, as well. The shop is adorable, the drinks and food are delicious, the staff is full of sweethearts, and it's locally...
Read moreIts hard to rate this place, as some of the issues are not their fault, but they could be made better.
The renovation to the old gas station was excellent. The sounds of the road are quite loud, though. The chairs they had were already falling apart and had a bent leg.
Now the biggest issue was the coffee, I got a mint chocolate frappe. It was flavorless, not sweet, not very minty or chocolately, just bland and bitter, without really any coffee taste. Maybe I had a got a bad day, but I was disappointed, especially at the price point. The second thing I got was a bacon and egg quesodilla. The thing was half empty, using microwave thin pre-cooked bacon and maybe one or 2 eggs for the entire thing. It tasted good but wasn't very enjoyable, with half my bites being just hard cooked tortillas and...
