BAKERY UNDER THE ARM? BREAD LOAF RIPPED FROM STARVING WOMAN'S HANDS - REALLY!
Just today, about an hour ago, 9 October 2018, 14:35, 12th & Arch Philadelphia location, I witnessed a small frail old woman in her slow footsteps being detained by a covered floor manager of BEILER'S BAKERY - he demanded to see what she had in her square wheeled shopping cart. He made her pull out a packaged loaf of butter bread that she apparently taken off BEILER'S abundant shelf's while he, the manager, was scolding the woman saying that he had been watching her, and warning her not to ever come back. I stood within ten feet to their right to assure that her civil rights would not be violated until they parted when the manager crossed my path and across from me placed the yellowed butter loaf atop of a pile of loaves far taller than he. I finished my hot dog and approached the long counter to make a selection of the Simms' Restaurant* cinnamon buns but was so disgusted by the place and myself I turned to look for the frail old woman while I could not help thinking, "Yea - you not only have the loaf under your arm but you own the bakery - - Come on - this is not Victorian London...recovering stolen bread from hungry old women"
While holding back tears in full public view, I headed BEILER's warning not to ever return while walking through Reading Terminal in search of the small frail woman pushing the cart so to give her a few dollars or even to buy her food but she quickly disappeared leaving my wrenching gut feeling equally un Christian.
I WELCOME REBUTTALS TO MY OBSERVANCE.
And as far as calling yourself Pennsylvania Dutch - - please do not call yourselves "Dutch" for you have nothing to do with the Netherlands or the Dutch people and neither the Netherlands or the Dutch people have anything to do with you.
Simms' Restaurant in Ocean City, New Jersey was famous for making and selling such square pans of cinnamon buns...

Read moreMy husband and I ordered a dozen through Grubhub and by the picture, you can see we wasted no time in eating them. Their doughnuts are so light and airy, it leaves you satisfied but wanting more. The glazed is perfection; the right amount of glaze and the taste is superb. Now a doughnut I have never tried before is a caramel apple doughnut. I was surprised by how heavy it is, sitting in my hand but when I took a bite, that's where the magic was unleashed. It tasted like a warm apple pie with a blanket of caramel. My husband ate the M&M doughnut which originally, I wouldn't forgive him for but when he told me it was sweet (in my terms too sweet for me), I knew I could forgive him. I'm not really a big sweet tooth so just because something is sweet doesn't mean it's bad, it's just too sweet for me. That being said, my husband loved the M&M and Boston creme that he just gobbled them both down before I had a second look into my selection from the box. Beiler definitely delivers on the taste and presentation. We will definitely be going back for more. If you find yourself wanting something sweet, definitely go to Beiler's. They really...
